VW Osbourne letter?
« on: March 13, 2003, 02:00:59 PM »
Anyone else get a letter from VW asking you for your 1999 VW?  I guess they want to buy it back and "give" you a new 2003 for "little or no money".  Whatever.  It's only available today through Sat.  I was curious if anyone is looking into it and what the details would be.

Oh, and I wanted to point out that this is supposed to be some kind of marketing test.

They probably want to see why the 99's work and the '02s and '03s don't Hehehehe...

I have a 2000 and didn't get one...Interesting though...

Yeah, I don't know why only 1999.  My 99 VW is a Jetta, so I don't know if that is a reason.  The envelope said something about Buy Back information.  I thought that finally VW was going to finally take back my Passat.

I have received letters similar to that, from other dealers and manufacturers.  Basically it's a "trade in your used car and buy a new one" deal. So there is a demand for 99 - 2001 B5s because of good reports and affordability and they need to reduce inventory on new cars.  A good deal might be possible, but I would be very skeptical.

I got one of those from Lithia for my 2002!  Yeah.. whatever. The key that you missed on that letter was "little or no out of pocket money". I'm sure they rape you and then roll it all into the loan.

Good point.  I still consider "loans" coming "out of pocket".  Dealers may not.  :)

I got 2 letters, one for a 2000 beetle and the other for the 2001 Beetle my ex walked off with.  So it is not just 99's.  I did not check into it, just pitched it all away since I no longer have either car.
