I use the NGK's as well in my '98 Passat 1.8T.  Never had any issues with them at all.

I use the NGK's as well.  A word of caution though.  Don't get them from the dealer, unless you are independently wealthy and money is of no concern.  Get them from ECSTuning.com or Parts4vws.com

Another NGK user here.  Just put them in on Friday, no issues, just plug and play.

Mine came stock w/Bosch 3-electrode...
I'm still using Bosch, one heat range colder than stock, because Chas had good experience with them.
The part number that sticks in my head is F7LTCR, but that might be the OEM plug... I'll go check and get back to ya...

Yeah, like Rusty said, I use the stock Bosch plugs for my whip. In the summer though, I change them out to the Bosch F6 DTC. That's the number for the one heat range cooler plug. The F7LTCR is the stock plug.

One heat range cooler for the summer is great for engines running hight boost levels. But in the winter they tend to foul a bit. So I then go back to the F7 plug or an equivilent substitute.

I get them at Checker. They have to special order them and they're not cheap. I think Checker gets $7.35 per plug. But I feel they are so worth the money. :)

<edit - I can't type anymore. That or I'm drunk...>

Interesting - I just ran the F6DTC's the whole winter and they're still just fine.  But then, I've been running a bit lean... soon to be rectified, I hope...
