June 10th - Urban Bike Assault
« on: June 04, 2004, 01:40:11 PM »
Calling all B5-ers who have mountain bikes or just an old beater they can cruise around on.  Are you interested in cruising around downtown and/or the Cherry Creek area?  If so, join us on Thursday, June 10th at 7pm in the parking lot of Bed, Bath & Beyond in Cherry Creek (at University and 1st).  We'll cruise around for a bit, maybe head downtown, stop for a beer?  Whatever sounds good to the folks who show up.

I've also got an old tank of a mtn bike I could get running again for anyone who needs a bike.  As long as you don't mind riding a bike that weighs more than you do.  :-P

Wait, if it's next Thursday I might be able to make it.  I was thinking it was the 17th.  I will not be able to make it on Wednesday, as that is a track night.  I'll be at SCR from 4:30 to dusk.

Hope you can make it Pat.  I want to check out your new single speed ride.  I forgot about Wed night track nights.  I might be able to make SCR next Wed for a change, so let's keep the biking to Thurs night for now?

specs?  that's a funny one.  :-D  It's steel, has full fenders and a bunch of cool stickers.  It was new back in like '85.  On the plus side, you can destroy the damn thing and I wouldn't care.  Sorry, but my only "nice" bike is my roadie, and it's not coming on any urban assaults.  ;)

I've got a bike, but I would need to dig it out and probably have to do a big time tune up and I suspect new tires and pads would be in order.  I would love to go, but it would have to be later this summer.
If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it!

I have a planned ride at Lair of the Bear on Thursday, but maybe I can talk my bro in law into switching to an urban.  I'll let you guys know.

Do you have a route planned?  I know a bunch of good places to ride.  Jon!  You up for this buddy???

Films on Fillmore doesn't start until July 8th though...I will probably be busy around that time...

Don't have a specific route planned.  Thinking of starting in Cherry Creek, then taking the bike path to downtown maybe?  Any other suggestions?

I know the whole area pretty well from a bike perspective, so let's just meet up and hash out some ideas.

So is anyone definitely up for this tonight?  If not, I might work late so I don't have to go into work this weekend.  Maybe we could push it back to next week?

Don't mean to be a flake, but it sounds like Mark and I are the only definites so far and work is kicking my a$$ lately.

Ok, just heard from Pat and he, Winston and a couple other guys are definitely in for tonight.  So guess work will have to wait. :-)

We'll meet up at 7pm in the south end of the parking lot of Bed Bath & Beyond in Cherry Creek.  We might stop for a beer along the way, so bring ID and a little cash.

See ya'll then!
