Like the topic says here is the side mount intercooler mister kit that I picked up. Hopefully ill be able to install it next week.

Wish me luck as it will be one of the most involved mods that I have atempted to date.

Second pic is the bracket that holds the spray nosel.

That looks great! Where did you get the kit? How much $? Let us know how the install goes. Maybe we won't all need FMIC after all.

What are you going to tap into as a water source?  The wiper resavoir, or is there a bottle with the kit that is not pictured?

Excellent mod though!

It taps into the washer resavoir, their is a kill switch that taps into the fuse box that kills the flow to the rear wiper.

I thoguht that it was a pretty nice mod, and not to much $$ eather.

Chas has(d) one on his passat.  now that he has the FMIC I'm not sure if he still has it.

Might be a good resource for tips.

So it just T's off the rear wiper line and uses the existing windshield washer pump? I guess it'd work the same off the front wiper lines for those with sedans. Can you explain the kill switch? Does it kill the movement of the wiper so it doesn't wipe a dry rear window? To spray, do you just use the steering wheel controls for the rear sprayer?

Yep it uses the existing pump, The kill switch kills the movement of the rear wiper, and the flow that would be going to the rear wiper nosel is now going to the intercooler. so their is no fluid leaking out the back nosel. and like you said just use the existing controlls on the column to spray.

INSTALLED :D

Well it took a very long time but its done, 4 hour total install time. It took a long time mostly because of my own lazyness. I could have probly gotten it done in about 2 but eh what ever.

Here are some pics of the car all pulled apart.

Its a pretty messy process, the only way to drain the resavor includes getting washer fluid all over the floor.

The finished product

And what ever the hell this thing is....

Fuse box all pulled apart. This is the SCARY part

Switch installed.

Seriously if anyone can tell me what the hell that blue thing is I would like to know. Its located under the fender liner up high.

Greg :D

I love moding 8)

P.S. I know that these arnt very informative photos but I would be more than happy to help anyone that would like to attempt the mod. Its a really fun mod that you can do for pretty cheep.
Feel free to shoot me any questions that you may have on the process. :)

Those of you that know what I do for a liveing, know that I have the privalage of liveing out of my car for most of my work day. A perfect chance to try out the mister. I would guess that it was about 80ish today in the springs

I turned the AC as high as it would go and rolled all the windows down, and drove it pretty hard thru traffic for about 4 hours and needless to say Im impressed. maby im feeling the placabo(SP?) effect but I definately noticed alot less fade in the engne,  it feels much more solid in the mid days heat, like when I just get it warmed up in the morning.

I cant wait for one of those 100 plus days to really try it out.

Time will tell I guess.... but so far im satisfyed.
