Boost Gauge Rattle
« on: August 25, 2004, 08:33:08 PM »
My Auto Meter boost gauge has developed a rattle in the gauge face under high boost.  How does one fix this issue and what caused it to begin with?

TIA

in line fuel filter helps to eliminate rattle...many have done it.

just a thought, but I don't have a gauge, so I really don't know

Try an anti-rattle t fitting. It's like $2 or something from 42 Draft Designs.

FYI - Autometer gauges are designed not to rattle. VDO on the other hand, well... Not that there's anything wrong with VDO's. :P

Randy, it sounds like the gauge itself might be coming apart inside. I believe you can unscrew the cap and have a look inside. If that's not the case, well then I've been of no help...

Sorry.

I am going to disect it tonight...

I agree with you Mark - it is the gauge itself not the connection in the back.

We shall see....

Hey Randy, have you tried contacting Autometer?  They may have either a recommendation or may even warranty it!

is your mechanical or electronic? that make a big dif?

how old is this one? under warranty?

if out of warranty, you can do the Ghetto-warranty and buy the same one then return the old in the news packaging...
