Hello,

My name's Kevin and I curretnly own a '03 Gti 1.8T, with no modifications.  Before that I had an '01 Wolfsburg with a split second boost controller.  I also Autocross the Gti, the stock rubber really stinks.
I'm a student and work for a local bank out in Highlands Ranch.

Later,
Kevin

You're kinda funny Greg, kinda.
Welcome to the club Kev! It is nice to have other GTI's in the group. Greg can get on my nerves as the formerly only GTI owner :P

Hey Kev,

I live in Centennial.  What does your GTI look like?  I'll keep an eye out for it in the area.

Welcome Kevin!
Any plans on Mods in the works?

I like to autocross the car so I'm looking at changing the suspension and tires first.  I'll probably go with the Eibach Pro-System and ABD Racing front and rear sway bars.  Still haven't decided on tires yet.  For a little more HP I'm planing on going with the Split Second BCS1.8T, ABD Racing Intake, and a Techtonics turbo-back exhaust.  I'll probably stop there till I have enough money to buy a BIG turbo kit with hopes of putting around 350hp to the wheels.
My Gti is a daily driver so I don't want to go too insane, also got to keep the wife happy.  So far she's been good about my overly expensive hobby, but don't want to push it.
Any feedback on the stuff I listed above would be appreciated.

Biggest thing with doing SCCA autocross if you want to be competitive is scrutinize the heck out of the rules for the classes. Simple modifications like changing wheel size can easily bump you up into a class where you have little chance of being competitive if i remember correctly. There are a couple racers on here who will probably chime in to help you more specifically there.

As far as front sways are concerned, I'd put in your rear sway in by itself with your springs/shocks/coil-overs in place before adding your front if you're trying to eliminate some of your under-steer. I'm still pushing a bit with a 28mm rear and stock front.

So, let me get this straight... This is a daily driver that you don't want to go insane with and you're talking about 350hp at the wheels?

You're either my new hero or we gotta work on your definitions of 'insane' and 'pushing it'.
;) :D

My previous experience with turbo cars have been a '90 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, and a '91 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4.  Both house the stout 4G63 turbo motor, and can easily handle 400hp with stock internals.  Quite a few guys in a DSM Club I use to be a member of were running low 12 second 1/4 miles in the same car they drove to work eveyday and that was 3 years ago.  Needless to say neither of my cars made it that far.
My insane Gti would be a 450hp, wide-body, AWD monster, but unless I win the lotto it'll still be an insane dream.
With the aftermarket support out there right now there are many options for building a 350hp 1.8T.

Allright lets get techinal with it. I own a 2000 golf GLS 1.8t
Its not a GTI because it has 4 doors. The only 2 door golfs that I have ever seen were TDI. So their you go.

Kevin- Good to see some DSM ppl around here. All of my close freinds own DSM's of some sort. 87 starion, 90 talon tsi. The list go's on...

Look forward to meeting you soon.

Greg
