Interior Works
« on: July 27, 2004, 07:22:32 PM »
I just wanted to let eveyone know that I've been spending time on the interior of my car.

I've just installed Isotta door sills...silver with blue lettering. They're not as big as I was hoping for but they add that tricked but subtle look to the interior of my car. I only have them on the front and they growing on me. Most importantly, they cover up the scratches

I also have an MKIV shift knob that I hope to mod-fit...that is if I ever get it from Greg :P

I have also installed a black, real leather shift boot. That's huge. However, the real leather is so much thicker than that fake OEM stuff, I'm having a hard time keeping the boot attached to the knob. That will hopefully remedy as I mod the MKIV knob on.

And for those of you who haven't seen, I've also installed chrome trim along the groove in our dashes and doors.

I should also be recieving my Isotta chrome shift ring (and boot) at the end of the week. So I'll probably put that in over the weekend when I'm not working. Or maybe just next week.

I then plan on getting new floor mats at the end of the month. Mine currently have holes in them.

Although I want them now, I also promised my wife I'd wait so she could get my chrome gauge rings at Christmas.

I have one more suprise that'll hopefully be in by Christmas as well. A little early present too myself but we'll all have to wait and see what it is.

Just an update on my mods as of late.

Oh yeah, and I'm still fighting with my oil temp guage... :?  :P

Good work JR!!!

I have some experiance with shift knobs and might be able to assist you with the install and boot issues you are having.

Hope to see you and your car some time in the near future.

Well I got the MKIV knob in today and it's awesome. It's used, got it for free, feels way better, looks way better and is shorter than the stock Passat one...

However, the cap that sticks on with the shift diag is wrong. If anybody knows where I can get an MKIV cap with our pattern, let me know. that'd be great. Thanks!

I tried...VW obviously doesn't want people to play with their shift knobs like that. In any case...it still isn't the right pattern...well, pattern; yes, numbers; no.

Maybe you should leave it that way.  It will confuse the guy who is trying to steel your car - ;-)

I just installed aluminum or steel, whatever, they're metal pedals. I got 'em for an interior swap from Randy who raped 'em from a ricer...

They're cool. I'll get pics one day...crappy computer, not digital cam and you know.

Nope...wish I could, but after I bought the piano and with one more mortaged-sized credit card payment for the dog, new brakes and already paid a mortgaged-sized credit card payment on the dog all in one month, um....

I'm broke.

And my wife needs me today...;) I like being needed.

So, no. I can't make it. Have a great time and the car will hopefully be with me at Avalon's thing if I go and definately at the Jon's garage day next week. So you can all see it. It's really nice. I'm incredibly happy with it.

Oh yeah, and I still have the 17's on ;)
