Better Butter Cookies
Submitted by: Laura
   "These cookies are really peanut buttery. For all those peanut butter lovers out there, this is the cookie for YOU!!"  Original recipe yield: 3 to 4 dozen.

INGREDIENTS:

    * 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    * 1 tablespoon baking soda
    * 1 cup butter
    * 3/4 cup white sugar
    * 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    * 1/4 cup peanut butter
    * 3 eggs
    * 3 tablespoons vanilla extract
    * 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

   1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
   2. Sift together the flour, and baking soda, set aside. In a medium bowl, cream the white sugar and brown sugar with the butter. Stir in the eggs, one at a time, then the vanilla and peanut butter. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and stir until combined. Finally, stir in the nuts.
   3. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on wire racks.

Well it looks like we wont have to worry about this one next year:

Volkswagens on the Green for 2005 is currently in the planning stage.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

At the last VWOTG meeting it was proposed that this show be returned to its roots as a VINTAGE AIR COOLED VW show. This would involve a return to previous classes (such as the “How low can you go”, “Split Loaf”, “Holier than the rest” etc). This would also involve a return to the earliest parking style where cars are parked as they arrive, rather than in any specific class.

This decision will need to be discussed by as many members as possible. Therefore there will be a special VWOTG meeting in the near future. As soon as I know the date and location I will have it put up here as well as on the main page.

http://home.earthlink.net/~vwqueen/html/vw_s_on_the_green.html

That would be a damn shame.  It's always a good way to kick off the season.  Of course it was rigged last year, and Audi's weren't allowed.  Wait, what am I complaining about?

They should go back to being air cooled.  We just need to get a Spring show organized.

I don't think they need a "holier than the rest" category. Evidently, they have a "holier than the rest" show!!

Well to their defense the show used to be Air Cooled back in the day and a lot of the owners have owned those cars for awhile.  While there can be some arguments that the water cooled owners are flash in the pan and so forth.

It wasn't their fault the show had it's problems last year, it was someone elses fault.  Even though there were problems I believe that was hte largest VWOTG ever and even those that created the problems busted their asses and still helped make it a good turnout.

Right?

This post is no longer out there.  No surprise there.  What did it say?

Also, I personally think it would be better if we replaced the VWOTG with a pure H2O VW and Audi show.  The same grounds would be great.  I really liked the location this year.

HA! He STILL doesn't make any sense when he types. :lol:

I resent the crack about Bug-In. Those guys over at Bandimere know what's up. They want to take the show to new levels. But...yeah....

.....whatever. His post STILL didn't make any coherant sense.

Hahahahhahha, they linked back to us about the, how does he spell it, gululgulgugulkllable people?

He doesn't so much speak the language as he does regurgitate it. I swear, when my cat coughs up a hairball it makes more sense than this joker.

Now what's even better, is just a few short weeks ago, they had a thread on their site emulating exactly what was posted in this thread, which is how I found out about this topic.

Talk about a hypocrite.

It's unfortunate.  The potential for great things in the community is hampered by people like this.

That about sums it up. There's rumblings in the kindom! Some doesn't like the way the king does something. KING: "Therefore, THEY ALL MUST DIE!!!!"

The whole thing is so ridiculously juvinile. The only reason that some got upset at potential exclusions of our enthusisast preference, is because VWOTG IS A COOL CAR SHOW!! And, hmmm funny, we all kinda want to be part of that.  :roll:

Well we should probably go easy on them.  It's not really our place to point the finger as to what's going on.

I guess we'll wait and see.  From now on I will not use bextvws site for valid information as it changes daily. and seems to be inaccurate at all times (what was I thinking?).

We'll just stick to the news from VWEC, the Onion and Al Sharpton.

Well whaddya know, an update:

VWEC and VWOTG

I really wish it would have gone back to air cooled.  There really needs to be a Spring show that highlights the VW/Audi community, not one persons agenda/ego.

I know there has been discussions on numerous forums about this.  Maybe it is time to figure out something new. Don't get me wrong VWOTG has always had great turn outs, great cars and other than a few select people it's a good time.

Anyone have a good recipe for Toast?

RMCB5 is NOT invited!
Oh well...We have DATR and Bug-In....someone should really change the name to Dub-In. Much cooler.

JR, I think that is just for the volunteers, which is just fine with me.  They just won't be asking us to sponsor the Passat award.  If they do, we can say we get to judge it since we know the Passat the best.  Otherwise, there's no reason for us to do it.

The guy that won this year really didn't get judged on anthing except nice wheels and stereo.  There were several other Passats that I think should have won, including Mark and Chas, just to name two.

If Audis are not invited, I say we just do our own show.  I'm not a big fan of the aircooled so much anyway.

"Scientists create 'perfect' toast"

That's not the way to make my perfect toast!  I like my butter completely melted.  Perfect is a variable, which would make this scientific experiment subjective.

C'mon Winston, everyone knows you can't argue with science.  The formula is right there.  It's all spelled out for you.  Clearly they are the toast experts here. :lol:
It sounds to me like it's time for you to realize butter that is completely melted is not part of the optimal toast creation process.
Hey everyone, look!  Winston has a new favorite toast.

Pat, you fell into one of the classic traps!

The most well known is that you should never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is never to go in against the Dub when toast is on the line.
