150hp

155 lbs/ft torque

Both ColoradoB5 and I have the UPsolute chip.  With that we are quoted 192 hp and in excess of 200lbs/ft of torque.

I don't think anyone in our crew has the GIAC.  Mostly APR and UPsolute.  Is your car a manual or a Tiptronic?  If it's Tiptronic GIAC makes a sweet Tip Chip to kill the lag.

Most of the "standard" 1 bar chips are going to give similar results, it really depends what you want out of the chip.  Like with APR you can get additional software that will allow you to toggle to a non-chipped mode for Valet or dealer service.  It is pricey, but nice.  I think Velo has this...I think.

For me I had no real intention of chipping just yet, but the right opportunity came along so I jumped on it and got it for a steal.

There is probably a lot more detailed information on clubb5.com since this is a common topic of discussion.  I have also added most of the tuners links in our weblinks module on the left.  You should be able to view their stated values for your car.

I have watched discussions on chips for as long as I've owned my car.  Owners seem most pleased with the GIAC and APR chips.  GIAC is owned by Garrett Lim and he is supposedly a wizard with programming these things.  APR also puts out a top notch product and is starting to become a real leader in the aftermarket VAG field...

Both Jay and I have the 0.8 bar Upsolute chips which put out close to 200 hp and 215ft-lbs of torque, but that comes at 10-12psi instead of 14.7psi.  These were $350 instead of the $500 you can expect to pay for the other two...

The additional programs you can get for the APR (q.v.) will cost more, but APR guarrantees the chip cannot be flashed by the dealer and is undetectable.  That will be my next chip if I decide to get one.

If you decide to go second hand, make sure it is from a car of the same year or earlier, since yours is drive by cable and 2000 and later B5s are DBW (instead of having a throttle cable).
