Selectable Exhaust!?

Kinda intristing if nothing else...

I wonder if you would encouter any check lights? I guess you could put it behind the cat.. that should curb any check lights that may be encounterd by the O2 sensors..

Its a pretty nicely made unit from what I can see.  It is controled by vacuum, so if you wanted to operate it, you would have to have a small vacuum switch inside of the engine compartment that you could use to switch back and forth between stock and WO mode.

It sounds pretty nasty on the car they have in the video.  Mighty ballsy.  Im sure that if you had it and had to go through inspections, it would be nice to select from so you didnt have to worry about inspection issues.  Just imagine what it sounds like at WOT with it open.

I was thinking that if I used that with a TDI mid pipe I could eliminate the resonator and keep the O2 sensors happy, no thrown codes. With a 2.5in down pipe.

I was actually just thinking about making my own switch and plumbing it to the glove box, in cab select ability is where its at.

That could work as well.  You wouldnt want this to be on the care before the cats.  Place it after all of the O2 sensors and you're all set.

In some of the pics on the website they showed it with no cat, but im one of those ppl that hates driveing around with check lights on the dash..

Yeah, but keep in mind that the pipe they were using looks like a straigh 3" pipe right off of the turbo.

Putting the dump farther back and the smaller piping will probly make it quieter but it should be pretty nasty, itís still unmuffled exhaust.

I just really like the idea of selectable exhaust..

this works on boost pressure, i wonder how much booost it takes fo tully open this thing,

for $235 i personally would rather have a e-cutout and have total control over my exhaust. i would think a ecutout would do more for spool up then this unit (cuz with this you have to wait until your in boost to reap the rewards, with a ecutout you get them from the begining..

just my thoughts .

agreed, I prefer the design from Quicktime preformance, This one is completely controled by the flip of a switch, plus then when you dont want it you dont have to have it. My plans are for a 3 in Dp, cutout and then 2.5 fomr there back. IMOP this would give me a calm car all day until I opened it up and then the 3 in dp and cutout would really open thins up and make a huge difference

With a manual boost controller routed to the cabin you could make it engage at what ever pressure you want to.

Just for my personal amusement do you have a link to the product that your talking about?
EDIT:Just found that quick time site you spoke of above and their product is quite impressive, im reading on.. and this one is less than 200 plus a little labor for the welding.

most people on honda-tech seem to have good results with them.
most use them for the same reason as above; normal daily driving and open it when that little extra is needed.

Ya definately let me know if you come across a cheaper link..
Im gonna check out honda tech too, I was entertaining the idea of a honda daily driver. I love the raspy sound of b16 tec.
