Reasonable?

So after replacing my lower control arms in the front, dealer now is quoting me $1250 (parts and labor) for L&R lower link arms, L outer tie rod, and 2 sway bar links on a 98 Passat V6 w/ 103k.

Is this legit? Reasonable? They say it's normal wear and tear and the car is not safe to drive right now... but after my huge long mess w/ my lower control arm breaking... I'm questing it.

Well the only thing I have experience with is the Tie Rod ends, which cost me just over $100 in parts.  

Was the rest of that damaged during the break of the Control Arm?  If so, then I think VW should pay for those as the other parts were the result of a faulty part breaking.

I think there must have been other damage when the car dropped... but dealer is saying that it's normal wear and tear.  I'm having a mechanic I know who used to own a VW shop going look at it today for second opinion.

I agree with Winston, VW should cover ALL the damage that was caused when the Control arm broke.

The cause of the damage was their faulty part, if the part was good, then none of the resulting dammage would have happened.

Keep after VW to fix everything.
