Attn: all members! Looking for help with new club logo
« on: January 20, 2005, 04:48:55 AM »
The moderators of RMCB5 have decided it's time to take our logo to the next level.  It's been a while since the website was established, so the original logo is showing it's age.  We'd like something that looks a little more polished.  Seeing as this site and culture is clearly defined by the quality of the members, the moderators think it would be best for the submissions for the new logo to come from our members.  After all, this is all about our friends, right?  :D

We're hoping to narrow it down to maybe three or four choices by the end of February.  At that time we'll review the submissions and vote on our favorites.

Eventually there will be an updated site theme built around the new logo design.  Both the "retro" and "new generation" themes will be available for site use, as well as being available on apparel.

As a reward for the member that submits the winning logo, s/he will receive a t-shirt and maybe some stickers and business cards with the new logo on it.  Of course, that reward will pale in comparison with the prestige of having designed the club's logo!

Here are some characteristics we're looking for in the new logo:
1.  It can be used with many different color schemes.
2.  It is able to have the club name drawn out or shortened to just the acronym.
3.  It's colors can be changed to fit a site theme, t-shirts, banners, business cards, etc.
4.  It should be submitted in PSD or illustrator file to me via PM.
5.  Finally, and most importantly, it should exemplify the club, community and the the engineering behind our cars.  In other words, it should exude performance, class and quality.

So there it is, everyone.  Let's see just how creative this group really is.  Send me what you've got!

Sounds like a great idea.  I dont have the skills to come up with a new logo, but when you think about it, how much of the member base still owns, or is planning to own a B5?  Over the past few months, its gotten less and less.  Maybe create a forum that is more dedicated to automotive enthusiasts as a whole and now just brand/chassis dependant?

Just an idea.

Actually, we're not talking about changing the name, just the logo.

If we were going to change the name, I like Rocky Mountain Dub Club, or just Dub Club.

Or maybe even Bubb Rubb's Dub Club.

The club goes Woo!

I think that in an effort to be inclusive of the various makes and models here that the logo should encorporate the logo of each manufacture.

For example, the Audi rings with the VW, BMW, and MINI logos inside.  Copyrights may prevent this though.

Damn you guys get off topic fast.  We just want  a logo, something unique to us.  We have no plans to change the name.

So please, whip up some logos and get them to Pat.

I'll hold off on the business cards until we decide on a logo -- I'll really swamped this past few months anyways.

To loosely get away from any trademark issues, I think any Audi or VW logos used should be abstracted or partially obscured.
Since the B5 platform will be suceeded with a new and differently named one, and we have many other VW and Audi owners here, I think we should drop the 'B5' moniker.  The use of 'VAG' (Volkswagen Auto Group) seems more appropriate.

This will be fun!

EDIT: just caught that we're still keeping the rmcb5 name.

C'mon I know there are some creative peeps in this group.  I have a graphic designer waiting to design on for us, but I'd rather it be a member.

I don't quite understand the distinction between the "logo" and the "name."  Would someone point me in the right direction?

That said, I am totally against dropping the "CB5" from this site.  There is a spirit at ClubB5 a.k.a. "Passat World" that transcends the B5 platform.  It is a spirit of open, competent help between members, growing into real friendships. That spirit started this site, and I'd like to continue to honor that spirit in name/logo as well as action.  You can grow and change, and still stay connected to your roots...

We don't plan on changing the name.  We're only looking for a new logo.  I agree with what you said about the spirit of CB5.  Same thing goes here.

Please check your email soon, Rusty.
