just to add to the diversity of opinion, I like #2, with a road added of course.   :?

Andrew,
I've got a cool idea for number one. Can you send me that file and I'll just add something to it.
Thanks!

Sent you my whole file.

Here's a couple minor variations of #3 with some of the requests

Personally i think this kind of design needs to be simple to work. Even if the elements looked different, i think it will look too cluttered. The most i might suggest is adding some simple shadows under the car/mountain shape in #3 or #5 similar to what i did in #7.

I think rather than redesigning this to death we should wait and see what other people come up with and vote on a direction. We can throw all the ideas in the pool and see what floats and refine the final from that.

This was my thought...sort of...someone (Andrew) can clean this up perchance and make the car even less descript...

I like the way those are looking!

Heres a suggestion to play with:  take the road below the logo on #7 and place it in the same place on #6, then change the road color from silver to black or darker color (like asphalt), and then change the mountain colors on the left in #6 above the logo and change the color from brown to silver to indicate snow caps?  I like the green mountains on the left in #6 and if you did the above changes it would represent both seasons in the mountains :D

I like your style your using! Very nice work :D

Thanks for the input Josh!

I just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone is missing the dual meaning / design for design #3/5.

In #5 the grey bumps on top are mountains and the curve to the right of the text is representative of a road. These shapes also create a car's roof-line and hood for the bumps on top and a tire for the curve to the right of the text. I might be able to play with the shapes some more to more clearly illustrate the dual meaning but I'd like to make sure everyone posts up ideas before we really start refinement.

Still looking forward to designs maybe from Alan, Jack and JR? Any more?

I'm working on yours Ian. I've got a vector version done, but I'm still kinda playing with it.

If you use Illustrator, it's wicked easy to add some twisties. Unfortunately, my wife just informed me that I have all the symptoms of pink eye. So I suspect, I just earned my self a sick day tomorrow and quite possibly the rest of today.
Yeah. I'm not allowed to touch anything new...grrr (including the G5's). On top of the flu...this sucks.
You should add a bacteria strain to the logo since we have such bad flu seasons. HAHA!

Keep em coming, the only concern I have on yours Charles is the ClubB5 portion looks just like the font used for the former ClubB5.com:

I do like the idea you have going. Can you throw one out there with the mountains and just rmcb5.com across the mountains?

Andrew, I caught onto your idea so what you are doing makes sense, I see that in the design.

Ian, I see the idea you are trying to get out there, I would like as well to see a refined simpler image. In it's current state it would be limitied in usage

Again, while coming up with these great ideas consider how scalable the logo is so we can use it for the site, cards, banners, ads, shirts and of course stickers. I appreciate the extra effort to use minimal colors. For those requesting more be added to the submissions keep in mind, the "more" we have in the logo the less likely it will be usable for every purpose we want to use the logo for.

The current logo we have limited us to the site and t-shirts. We had to come up with othr solutions for stickers, banner and so on.

It is really important to have continuity in our identity instead of having extremely different designs for each item we look to plaster our name on. :)

Once again, I eally appreciate everyone's effort and ideas, keep em coming.

Thanks Jay.  I just threw that together to get the idea out, since I suck at art.  My thought was to have a non-descript nose of a car emerging from the circle (not necessarily the entire car) rendered mostly in one color, perhaps the same as the ring itself.  Perhaps the out line of some mountains behind the car, with www.rmcb5.com (or some variation thereof) as the windshield banner.  I can see exactly what I want in my mind, I just can't get it onto paper (or monitor).

I really like the mountains in #2. A lot different than the soft curves of the other designs. Is the swoosh in #7 supposed to be an underline for the text or a road or both? I think I like #7 the most because it has a chance of showing the dual meaning the best without an explanation (never saw the car outline until explained, but I am a little slow). Maybe if the grey swoosh were a yellow centerline pattern or something that defined a road more. The right most shape that was to represent the road could be the outside laneline. Can make this gray even though the lanelines are white, but it might better represent a tire. Not sure how all those colors will look, just thinking of meaning and how my mind works. The shadows don't really help the shapes and their meanings.

I whipped up a few here.
I wanted something more horizontal so that it fits nicely as a banner and could be used as a subtle window sticker:
