Does anyone here have time to install or help me install a K04? I am pondering just bringing it up to SCR up in loveland and have the software refalshed and have the K04 installed..  But they want about $250 for the install and reflash labor. Any input or ideas?

Having done a turbo swap myself, I can tell you that $250.00 is a good deal!  Take it there and have them do it.

i took off a turbo on my a4 it'wasn't that bad...but you got a jetta and they have them transverse engines...i looked at one of them and if you got an access to a lift it's not that bad...but i wouldn't recomend doing it in the garage on the jack satnds..

My experiance is on a 2003 passat.  It took about 8 hours due to having to pull the entire front off the car to access the turbo.  On a MK4 it will be easier, due to the location of the turbo.

I agree that a lift is a big help, as you can access the turbo from a standing possition, not on you back with jackstands.

It is a DIY job, but if you do not have a good set to tools and a brave heart, having a shop do it is a good option.  The price quoted is good, so you should net feel like you are being taken advantage of.

Ok, I guess there is no need for this topic anymore. The K04 has been sold and the Jetta project is coming to an end... If anyone wants any of jetta parts please check the classifieds. thanks.
