I hate to take an exam at 9am, but I might be looking for something to do afterwards since Renee will be in class all day. Can someone PM me Jasons address.

I am going through withdrawl.

Oh just don't let me touch spark plugs, I learned yesterday I am inept.  Has anyone ever blown a spark plug out of it's socket? No? Well I have.  It's loud. Of course this was on my scout, I didn't thread the plug properly when i installed it Sunday.  Oops.

Thanks Andrew.  Looks like everything is ready to go tomorrow.  I have only one floor jack, so I would bring one if you have one.  Also, I am going to be busy painting with my girlfriend Gen, so I will help where I can, or maybe I should say "I will help the entire day with brakes Gen, because they need me.  Why do you paint??? " LOL  Anyways, if someone wants to grab some doughnuts and coffee that would be great, otherwise I will get some in the morning.  I will be here at 8:00 so anytime after that is perfectly fine with me.

I'm planning on attending, and I may have an friend with an A4 with me.  I hope that's ok.  I may be a little late, so if you guys find yourself in a bind needing something feel free to call me.  I may be able to pick it up on my way.

See you guys tomorrow.

HUGE thanks to Jason for hosting and all his help and Kevin for sticking by and wrenching til I was rolling again (I hope I did not incur the wrath of your wife!). Seriously though, thanks man. Randy, as always, your expertise was invaluable, Dan you f'n crack me up not to mention you clearly know wtf yer doing with cars THANKS! Mark, thanks for taking the shots and posting them. Very nice! Eric, thanks for the great deal on the calipers, without which this project would not have happened this soon. Joel, thanks for catching the cooling veins issue. I knew you were right when you pointed it out, but thanks for posting that page as well!

It was great to see all of you again, as always. Weather was surprisingly cooperative with us, although it looked a little shaky there a few times. Unfortunately after not getting out of there til about 9:30PM I didn't get the chance to really pound the brakes to really bed them in and find out what they're capable of. Now we've got this snowy stuff on the ground… *sigh*

*dreaming of summertime*
THANKS again everybody!

Hey everyone!  First of all, thank you Andrew for taking the time to clean up after you were finished.  I had no idea you were there until 9:30, but that reminds me of the last time you were at my place working on your car... something about detailing and a party going on at the same time! :)  I am really sorry I couldn't help everyone more, but it appears everything was under control, and it was great to get the painting done as well.

As for what happened to Alan's belly pan?  Maybe Alan should chime in on that one.  But lucky for him the damage was not too severe, and they were able to get parts from the local VW dealer to fix it.  We wired the sheared wiring harness for the oil sensor back together, using the resources we had available.  It was a major issue that could have turned into a catastrophe if Alan had not noticed the leaking oil from his car, well I guess it’s not like you could miss the huge puddle of oil...

I hope the cleaning did the trick -and that the snow/rain will wash away any soap 'n stuff left over.

I woulda been outta there with the sun still out if i hadn't ended up having rubbing/grinding issues with the pad carier pins on the back-side of my rotors. All better now though!

No problem sticking around.  I'm just glad that your up and running again.  I guess that grinder you bought has been well worht th $50 invested.

It was nice to meet a bunch of you, and thanks Jason for letting us use your garage.  And thanks Randy for helping me get those front pads in, they were more difficult than the rears.

LOL, I guess I should have realized that my S4 front calipers on the W8 are much easier to work with than the calipers on the MKIV's... but now I know :)

It was fun to see eveyone and help out where I could.  Andrew, I am glad that things finally got worked out for you and your brakes.  Alan, let not play Dukes of Hazzard in your can any more, okay

I'd wish I took 3' of air in my B5.5, it would've been worth my $250.

Actually in another ironic stroke of luck I was on my way to Jason's just to check out the brake install (I decided not to go snowboarding that day because of the impending storm) and do a simple oil change with my new oil extractor.  I was following Andrew's directions, which were wrong, and turned on to a side street to get me back on to the right direction.  There was a hidden dip in the road right after the turn which I bottomed out my car.  It wasn't a hard bump and I didn't think much of it.
It must have been 5 minutes after I pulled up to Jason's place I noticed a puddle of liquid under my car -- I didn't think I had my AC on that high, but upon closer inspection it was a puddle of oil.

Didn't know how it happened but the dip in the road punctured and cracked the oil pan at the oil sensor and made a tiny hairline crack at the opposite end.  It also slashed through the wires of the oil sensor.
My carbon fibre belly pan was fine, with exception of some surface resin peeling off and being covered in oil.

I didn't know the oil pan was prone to damage (the V6 has a much larger pan), especially it being aluminum, and apparently there is a OEM skid plate available to protect the oil in addition to the also damage-prone belly pan because of this -- I haven't sourced this part yet.

Because of this I didn't try out my oil extractor, but Mark did and it did a fast, clean and simple job in sucking out all of the old oil.

Ah HA!!  So this is Andrew's fault    J/K

I think the skid plate is a wise investment.  I might look inot something like that for my car.  Having seen the aftermath of a cracked oil pan, I do not want one.
