August 2003 Issue of Automobile shows new B6
« on: July 23, 2003, 11:15:52 PM »
OK...I have not been spending a lot of time over at CB5...but was just finally getting a chance to read my Automobile Mag and saw the article on the new Passat.  I have attached a shot of the article below.  These are by far the best images of the new Passat I have seen...I am sure someone had posted them over at CB5...but they are new to me.  I love the Phaeton-esque rear, and the light configuration, and the similarity between the front and rear with the lower rounded portion dropping down.  They will be putting the R32 motor in it in place of the W8 (Called the R32 Passat)...and it will have 300 horsepower.  Can you imagine 300 turbocharged HP in a Passat...STOCK!!!!  There will be a revised spring-strut front axle and all new four-link rear suspension.  Longer wheel base, but same overall dimensions.  One thing for sure...no matter what I am driving when this comes out...I think it will be my return to the Passat.  I really like the Variant, but that sedan in the Indigo color is very impressive.  I will then have to change my screen name to 05Indigo 8)

Looks kind of cool, but I'll stick with B5.5 body style. I've gotten used to the clean lines and all the looks when you mod it.
Look officer, I really do own it......

Jon thanks for posting that! The variant rear reminds me of a mid 90s BMW wagon.

The sedan looks nice, you can see the Audi style in that.  That sedan rear looks a lot like the A4, only wider.

Right now I am pretty hot on the December release of 1.8T 4Mo and If I wasn't trying to buy a house would consider trading up my b5 for one of the B5.5 1.8T 4mos.

Maybe I'll see what 2005 and 2006 MYs have in store for me.

The R series Passat probably wont hit the US from what i heard previously, but with the consumer demand so high on VW beefing up their cars and making them more "sporty" or "euro" I could see there being some.

I guess that would make sense as the successor to the W8.

also, while I'm here, welcome Wyaka!
