Anybody have any details on that particular stretch of road and how this could have happened?
In Loveland, it is detailed in the 9news link.
I just got back from leaving flowers where he was killed. I met Mike for the first time on Friday, when he spent most of the day riding in my car, and taking me around the track at Second Creek. What an amazing person and he certainly taught me a lot that day, and now after his passing realizing just how fragile life is. The few hours I spent with him were enough to leave a lasting impression, which is why I was compelled to leave something and say goodbye. The corner is a very sharp corner, and with a large mound of dirt on the right when traveling West, I could see how he would not have seen the truck coming towards him. There are no skid marks which made it difficult to see exactly what happened. The road is narrow, and looks to be a source of danger anyways. All I know is that he certainly drove that road several times, so whatever happened must have been out of the ordinary. I can also say that from riding with him, he was a very skilled and focused driver, and I know for sure he would not been under the influence of anything, he just doesn't seem like that type.Mike will be missed by the community, and I wish his family and friends my deepest sympathy for the loss of a great person, and loved one.
