I'm starting up a caravan to Heritage Square from Denver for the VWOTG show on May 15th! Please post in this thread if you can or can't make the cruise out.

We will be meeting up at the Krispy Kreme in Lone Tree/Park Meadows. Its basically off C-470 and Quebec Street. (I-25 & C-470).

Meet around 6:00-6:30AM and depart around 7:00AM as soon as the Colorado Springs guys arrive.

Lone Tree
7514 E. Parkway Drive
Lone Tree, CO 80124 US
Phone: 303-649-9933

It is a pretty convenient spot since it is right off the highway. I think that will give plenty of time for everyone to converge and grab donuts/coffee.

Spread the word! We need to get this caravan HUGE.

Thanks
 :)

Having my toe nails ripped off one by one would be more enjoyable then going to VWOTG.

Since you wanted responses about those not being able to make, you can count on me not being there. :)

VWOTG? What's that? Never heard of it. I don't think it exists.

I will NOT be going to VWOTG.

Just an FYI, anyone that wants to go should, but it is a VW ONLY show, no Audi's or anything else.

I went last year even though most of my car parts had an Audi logo on them  I think it's been mentioned that there is no Passat class anyway.

Yeah, Lance's way of "showing us."  I actually think there is, but it is wrapped into other classes.  I dunno.  They needed a sponsor and I forked over the cash for the award last eyar out of MY POCKET and the car that won, only won because of ICE ICE BABY.

Not going, especially since I don't own a Volkswagen.  But the comment on having your toenails ripped off influenced my decision on that too. I had one ripped off a few months ago, and it wasn't too much fun. It makes me view VWOTG in a whole different light...

didn't they have huge showing of Ghias last year?
they also had a sprinkling of other VW-related cars, like Porsches, etc.

I had a fun time last year, and it's too bad they are snubbing non-vintage  VWs.   I didn't sense any tension or attitude at last year's event.  This is pretty unfortunate (and the charity will be at a loss too).

I was hoping to bring Yuki along, since I've met a couple very nice VW owners who brought their Shiba Inus there last year and it seems like a great day to spend with my doggie, but now since they are not allowing dogs this year (but screaming and spazzed out kids are allowed) I'll probably just go there do a walk around and leave.

I'll go and walk around and leave with you Alan...it's always fun to wander around the cars. I'll probably head down after worshipping Jesus that morning.

Anybody else want to go be a spectator? We can make it a group thing...hell, and go for a drive after.

Hmmm, I am thinking I may stop by for a few with my son to introduce him to the marque of car he will be driving in a little over 15 years...

I'm not going to show, but I will attend as a spectator.

It looks like I will be going.  I won't be there until about 1pm though.  I have my wife's soccer game to go to in the morning and I'll be there after that with Ethan for his first VW show.   Looks like I'll have to clean the ride up, but it's in no condition for a show...

Yep she still plays.  I would too but for my bad knee, from playing soccer.  Going to her games is pure torture, but I am a masochist at heart, which is why I mountain bike too.  I do miss running though (see the masochist comment above)

Can't wait to check out the cars and what was done over the winter to everone's rides!

Hey guys, here's what me and Jay did last year!

[web]http://forums.audiworld.com/rockymtn/msgs/19478.phtml[/web]

I'm not one to instigate but I just had to do it. And Jay is the kind of bad influence one needs to do something like that!

Only reason I went last year was cause it was only a few blocks from my house in Arvada/Golden. I may show up again since again it's in Golden.
However, my inclination to infiltrate won't be up to the level it was last year since Jay won't be there!

So I decided to check out VWOTG yesterday, I would say it's more like VWOBA (volkswagens on broken asphalt).  I'm happy that I didn't enter this year, as the show was pretty small and not terribly interesting and I didn't feel like hanging around there for much of the day.

Not having the show on the grass was a huge difference, as it didn't show off the cars as well (especially the vintage ones), made walking around hotter and more tiring, and it didn't make the show feel special enough.
The parking lot pavement was not aging well and it was amusing to see and hear many dropped Bugs scrapping their undersides over some potholes at the entrance to the lot.  The swap section looked like trailor trash city, as the pavement was broken up and the stands were sparsely spaced with not much to see, just some families sitting around in front of their vans or trailors, hawking their used goods.

Attendance was pretty low compared to last year, I'm estimating between a third to a half of last year.  It was hard to tell how many of those were entered in the show, as the cars entered were mixed in with the other cars (even non-german cars) -- so it didn't really feel like a true VW show like last year.  A starck contrast last year were not even Audis were allowed on the Green.

I'm guessing because of the change in venue, many of the awesome vintage VWs didn't show up -- and in our case, the tension between RMCB5 and the organizers, has only garnered a handful of attendees from our club and I believe only Dan entered out of all the Passats (I'm surprised there was even a class for Passats).

Bitching aside, it was good free way of spending an hour or two in the nice weather and seeing some interesting cars -- Yuki sure enjoyed it there!

I will admit it was dissappointing to see the pictures and read other accounts.  This was once a great show.

From what I have been reading a big round of applaus is deserved for our friends to the south with edition719.  They took home a handful of awards.

So nice work guys and gals.

I'm guessing Dan won it (Green dropped B5.5) since he was the only one entered.
I will have some pics posted this week.
