Dyno Day 2.....
« on: May 31, 2005, 08:04:36 PM »
Seems like we should get a second dyno day on the calendar.

Now that we have "baseline" numbers for everyone that attended we can have some more fun with this.

Hopefully some people that missed out last time want to join in too.

We can change the contest too.

-Most HP INCREASE over last time.(and/or biggest % change)
-Least HP (figure someone should win this  )
-Most consistent ?

What else?

Date?

I am up for it.   I wanted to go to Mac before DATR to see what my car is doing, etc.  So I would like to do it before June 26th.  What about the week/weekend before?

I would like to go.  I have changed to GIAC from REVO, so I would like to see the difference.

Let me know the date.

Hey Randy, why did you change software?  Just for kicks/experimentation, or did you expect an increase in performance?  What have been the results?

I changed to see what the difference would be.  I have noticed that the GIAC program is MUCH smoother then the REVO.  My boost gauge was ratteling with REVO and now it does not.  Also the spiking is gone, where as the REVO would spike to 20 PSI and then back off, the GIAC program is more consistant - holding at 16 PSI.

The power feels the same, but I would like to have "proof" not just butt dyno.

Finally, it is tough to sell something when you have no real world experance with it.  Avalon is no longer a REVO dealer, just GIAC.  We could not keep both so we had to go with only one.  GO MOTORS is now the local REVO dealer.  I would have loved to keep both, but each company was telling us to pick one.

We went with GIAC because they have the most applications.  VW, Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Bentley.  Their service is also beyond compare.

Randy that is odd.  When I did the pepsi challenge (Brian's 20th w/Revo and Evan's 20th with GIAC) I thought the oppisite.  I thought Brian's felt smoother and not as spikey, but it didn't fell as quick.  And I thought Evan's felt quicker but spikier and definately not as smooth.  I was only doing the butt dyno, which we all know isn't as accurate as the mustang or dynojet dynos.

I feel all the chips are virtually the same and with what I felt and what you are feeling makes me think that chips are better on an individual basis.  Like each car needs so and so chip to run smoothest and quickest.

I'll have to see wear I'm at when you decide on the day. Otherwise, I'd like to go, but as usual, can't promise anything.

I agree with you, Jack.  However I think it is also related to the other engine mods that the car has and their effect on the chip programming.

Cold Air Intakes, DV's, N75 valves, Hoses and the like also have an impact on the way the car drives.

Fianally the driver has to know the way the car reacts and drive accordingly.  Just slamming the gas and hoping for the best results is not the right approach.
