ColoradoB5's Going Away Party- Thursday Evening
« on: May 31, 2005, 01:21:19 PM »
In honor of all the hard work, smiles, character and hospiltality Winston has provided RMCB5 with over the last 4 years as a founding club member,  we are having a GTG to honor him, let him know he and his family will be missed and to spend some all too brief final moments with Winston, Jen and Ethan before they embark on a new stage of their lives.

So BE THERE and make Dub giggle :D Or get him drunk and drag him to a tattoo parlour

Dub's Going Away Party:

Thursday: 6/02
Location Alan's Pad- PM aowhaus for directions.
Time: Whenver you want   He may not let you in though    Seriously though, 8pm

Details on Alan's place

I was just about to post something for this.  Let's make it Thursday night so Jon can be there.  I'm busy Wednesday night.

which week?

I could host it at my pad.
Or if you guys are thinking of doing a sit-down dinner, I suggest Lime at Larimer Square on Thursdays as they have their Cheesy night -- 80's and 90's cheesy music, $3 cheese quesadillas, $3 drinks and their dinner menu is awesome.

I've heard Lime has fantastic Margaritas.  :P I like that idea alot. And Yes, it would be this week. However, again, we need to make sure that Winston and fam or just Winston can go. Parking down there might stink too.
We could always do an old fashioned D&B GTG. Pat or Jon, once Winston confirms he can be there, shoot an email to those others that aren't on the boards alot or at all that would probably like to go.

I was in Lime once, it is a happenin' spot - but was really loud - maybe because I was right beside the woofer or something (Dane Cook anyone?). Anyway, I couldn't hear anyone talk and everyone was yelling over each other but that was in the bar area - maybe it is a little more tame in the dining room? If its like it was last time I was there I won't take my son - sorry.

Dude, that sucks. Winston's gone as of next week so unfortunately this isn't something we can just postpone or reschedule.

And for the record, when we had lunch last week he mentioned D&B's but I'm not going to push for any one thing as I'm hoping he'll make a suggestion as to where he wants to go. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be low key.

I forgot about their margaritas, they're damn good!

Yeah, Lime is not the best place to take the kids.
Lime is a pretty loud place, but I think the dining room side is not as loud as the bar side.  They have booths that could fit 6, possibly 8, which are a little quieter.  For larger groups they could put together a few tables in the middle part of the dining room.
Also, they fill up very quickly so we need to make reservations especially for a large group.

I have another going away party that same day, but that's after work for happy hour, so if we have something at my pad it would have to be something relatively simple since I don't have any time to prep -- maybe a BBQ/pot luck.
Kids are welcome at my pad, Yuki would have a fun time playing with them.

I still vote for Alan's pad, more casual, easier on everyone...and we can all bring pot luck and BBQ, that always works out great, and is easier on the wallet.  Drinks can be made and a good time had by all.

That is my vote ;)....Alan's ultimate RMCB5 GTG Pad!!!!!!

WOW! Where have I been? I guess I've been away for too long. I didn't know anything about thiss at all. I'm sure there is something in the general discussion area about this, probably.

Anyhow, I vote for not Downtown and definantly not anyplace that is remotely loud. People are going to want to talk and loud bars don't lend themselves to proper discusions. And then there is the kid thing. I might have mine in tow as well.

But whatever is decided please let me know. I'll keep an eye on this thread for sure. But I am busy this week.  I would love to say goodbye to Winston. Without his help, this club wouldn't be what it is today!

Hey guys, if it's not too much trouble, I vote for Alan's pad.  It's always a great time, easy to park, and I would be happy to bring something for pot luck.

It looks like Thursday will be the best day for everyone and Jen, Ethan and I will all be there.

Let's do it!

Thanks again for making me feel so special!

Winston

Hey Winston,

I won't be able to make it on Thursday, but we'll have to catch up when I'm out in Boston for my work's annual training. Thanks for all your help these past few years - especially w/ my brake install.

Are we theming? or is it 'bring anything?'

I can do homemade chips and guac unless told otherwise (got some avocados and tortillas I need to use up). Plus I can bring the tequila/margarita bar - its a little sad right now with only 3 entries, but maybe I'll pick up a nice anejo for the occasion.

keep it tame for the families, eh?
thursday night is when the victoria secrets models come over for our weekly pillow fight -- I'd guess I'll reschedule that... only for you, Winston!

you guys have the kitchen and BBQ at your disposal if you can't prepare something ahead of time.

I'll make some pot stickers with homemade dipping sauces, that seemed to be pretty popular at our last sushi party.

There's plenty of street parking in my neighborhood, there's also an office parking lot that's not used at night at the north east corner of 18th and Washington.  Please refrain from using the guest parking as there are only 4 spots and my neighbors will get suspicious if it's all filled with VWs.
