Hasn't VW had enough of not selling those cars? I don't think they're bad to drive, actually kind of fun...but my understanding is that the Beetle was basically a flop after the first production year. Wasn't that um...six years ago?

I supose its the novelty that keeps them in production. I see them all over the place. Do they have a VR6 NB?

There is no factory VR Beetle, but I know a REALLY slow one up in Erie if you want it... LOL

Anyway, sales have not been bad, and I like the new more squared edges, I even like the tails! I have some more pics of it from a VWoA event held a few weeks ago... let me dig them out...

I don't know if I would ever buy one, but I like them.  I have seen a few that people have modded and they look pretty good.  I saw the pics of the 2006 over at VWVortex and thout it was a good change-up.
If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it!

Looks like it is making a funny face as you pull up on it to blow it's doors and top off.

I had a Turbo NB as a loaner one time and I must admit it was really fun to drive.  The position of the driver at almost the middle of the wheelbase and it's small and light size made it feel like you're driving a go-cart.  The only complaint (other than its cute girlie styling), was the noticable turbo lag.

I thought the limited edition Turbo S (the one with the quad round headlights), and the NB Ragster concept (with it's chopped windows and more agressive styling) were very cool variants of the NB.  This 2006 restyling is rather mild and if VW wants to stay in the game than they should offer a big menu of dealer installed options and accessories to customize your NB, like the Toyota Scion.
There are a lot of non-OEM aftermarket goods for the NB (I like the Cabrio woody panels), and VW really hasn't tapped into that market yet.
