transmission (possibly) work for a '98 Jetta -> where to
« on: July 28, 2005, 11:25:10 AM »
My girlfriend’s car (4cly 98 jetta) is making a slight jerking and grinding sound when the car goes into either first or second gear.  The sound and motion both originate near the front driver's side.  If anyone knows of a place to take it that does good work at a reasonable price, or if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

My thoughts are that the gears or transmission could be slightly out of line.

Thanks,
Andrew

Might be the synchros, or a worn engine/tranny mount.  I'd check out RS Motorsports in Arvada (Wheatridge...somewhere around there).
