Debadged the Gti
« on: September 25, 2005, 01:08:10 PM »
Good morning,

Well yesterday I finally debaged my Gti.  It looks nice, but since I've had the car for two years you can still see kind of like a shadow of the GTI and 1.8T badges.

Anyone have a clue as to how to get these to go away?

Thanks,
Kev

Did you put down a coat of fresh wax?

When I did mine on the Passat, I first used 3M polishing compound then a couple coats of wax.  You would not even know that a badge was there.
If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it!

A buffer with some light polish and a coat of wax should also take care of it. Maybe swing by Detailers Paradise and talk to Nick if you still have problems.

Have you done the paint thing for the badges and headlights you were discussing before? :) Post Pics!

Haven't done the headlights or badges yet.

Still not sure about the headlights, I think I'll either just leave them stock, or buy a better aftermarket set.

I'm also planning on painting my front grill black, but leave the emblem chrome, or body color.  I've seen it before and it looks pretty good.

Thanks for all the feedback on taking care of the shadow left from the debadging.  I'll pick up some polish and wax this week and I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Thanks again,
Kev

i put goo gone on a rag and rubbed like crazy until it looked good then i waxed the car. The badges were on my car for 2 years before i bought it.
