Name all the cars you have owned since you were 16
« on: July 27, 2005, 12:29:39 PM »
in order of ownership.  As for me:

1. 1972 Monte Carlo w/a 402 - car was fully restored.  0-60 5 seconds.  Stolen from school parking lot and discovered in Denver completely chopped.  The car had been in the family since I was 7.

2. ~1980 Mercedes Benz 240D.  Got it cause I thought it was cool.  Damn thing never started when it was cold... if it was not plugged in.

3. 1990 VW Fox.  Now this was my first VW.  Fun she was.  Neuspeed springs, bilstein shocks, $10K stereo system (I knew the daughter of QAS), 195/50/15s!!, custom paint job, flared fenders and shaved.

4. 1984 Chevy S-10 Blazer - acquired from my father... 4 wheeled the heck out of it - after getting bigger tires on it first!

5. 1987 VW Jetta GLI/4 door - I wanted this model so bad I overlooked the bullet hole in the rear passenger door it came with from DC.  I also overlooked the fact you had to have the heater on to prevent stumbling.

6. 1994 Jetta GL - wife's graduation present at the time but I convinced her to get that as opposed to the Saturn she was originally thinking about.

7. 1997 Jeep Cherokee - another fun project this turned out to be - ConFerr rack, 3 inch lift, 33s, shackles...., friggin dog ended up eating it - don't ask!

8. 2001 A4 1.8T - Silver - mine - in lieu of a HD

9. 2001 A4 1.8T - Ebony Pearl - wife's

10. 2001 Jetta Wagon 2.0 - 1.8T was not offered at the time we were buying

11. 2001 GTi - 1.8T - mine - Neuspeed race, bilsteins, Neuspeed front and rear sway, upper tie bar, short shifter, billet door pins, 18 inch REs, 20% tint, clear bra, K&N, HyperBoost diverter, 5 point harnesses

12. 2004 F140 SuperCrew - Daystar leveling kit, 20% tint, clear bra, Rhino liner, XM, 325 series on 18s,

13. 2004 Passat 1.8T 4Mo Tip - APR, H&R Sport, Bilsteins, 20% tint, clear bra, aluminum door pins

14. 2005 Subaru Legacy Ltd. GT Wagon - KartBoy SS and knob, 20% tint, clear bra

I may have missed one or two cars and quite a few mods (as I am giving just a basic overview), but as I remember I will add - I am sitting here at work this morning thinking of this.  Now I am just curious to everyone's list.

Oh yeah, I am 33.

Here goes...

79 Ford Fiesta "S" These were actually built in Germany (I think?) It was the number one selling car in Europe for many years. In the US, they were much less popular. It had a whopping 68HP! It was a 3rd tier hand me down...I beat the hell out of it, like any 17 year old would, but absolutely loved it. LOL died 140k

84 Corrola SR5 coupe. Got it from a family friend for FREE. Ran great but not exactly a fun car. Died with 160k on the clock

85 Chevy Monte Carlo V8. The ulitmate car for cruising pot holes in NYC with 8 of my closest friends lol. died 145k

86 Rx-7 GXL. Rotary powered and smooooth as hell. Pretty quick too. 50/50 weight distribution made it verrry flingable. It actually had a buzzer on it to tell you you were about to redline, it was THAT smooth. I think the rx-8's still use this buzzer. It cracked my friends up, so of course I would redline it ALL the time. LOL died 135k

87 Nissan Sentra- the college mobile. Boring as hell but bullet proof. Only mod was a killer stereo with 2 12's in the trunk. lol died 145k (Parking brake was not working, parked on a hill, dog in car alone. Dog accidently pulled the car out of gear with her leash. Car rolled UNMANNED about .5 miles(!!) down a hill into some trees!! 8O Thank God that's all it hit! RIP -Dog sh!t herself (literally) but was okay LOL!!)

93 Ford Probe GT 2.5 v6. Very smooth and quick. Interior seemed to built entirely from the very same plastic they used for the interior of a matchbox car. Hydroplaned it at 65mph into a guardrail, (Verrry bald tires) bounced off that and was hit by a car who was also going about 65. Car was absolute toast. My passenger and I walked away without a scratch -luckily.

(forgot)95 Mazda Mx-5 2.5 V6. Same car as the probe, but with leather and slightly better quality plastic. LOL Needed a 4 door, so it got sold.

97 Subie Outback 2.5 I LOVED this car. Took it everywhere, including mountain trails in Vermont and 4-wheeling on the beach. Crossed the country several times in it. I found out in Kansas that it is governed to 117 mph. Unstoppable in seemingly any amount of sand or snow. I took it out in the blizzard (03) just for kicks. Most trouble free car I have had so far until head gasket went at 145k

(forgot)96 Suzuki Katana 600 -I Still have it but never ride it anymore. Too many close calls with idiots out here who feel that they don't actually have to STOP when they come to a STOP sign. Super fun and fast, but not worth dying for.

01 Jetta 1.8t GLS. My first VW. Put rims and tint on it. Loved it! even though my wife HAD to have an automatic. It was a victim of divorce- she took it.

99 Passat 1.8t GLS. Just tint and a K&N. Loved this car MORE than the Jetta, but after 75k repair bills were piling up....

05 Subie Legacy GT. Just passed 2000 miles in it. By far the fastest car I have ever owned. Got it sideways in the rain on Sunday just for kicks  The power is seriously addicting. I am learning that to drive it slow, I should avoid using more than the 1st inch of travel on the gas pedal   Mods: 20% tint and a debadged ass...so far

Age 16 - 1969 Mustang 289. Clutch burnt out racing on colfax. While engine was out replacing clutch, friends convinced me to bore the cylinders out and install high performance cam. Broke curfew too many times and mom sold it.

18 yo - 1976 Datsun B210 ("the little white bullet") after standing in the rain waiting for over two hours for a bus i said, "I'm getting a car today". A friend sold it to me for $200.  Had a singer sewing machine for an engine. After three years of driving it into the ground (Had to have rubber floor mats to keep the rain water from splashing up through the holes in the floorboard). When I traded it in I waited until all the paper work was signed and I had the "new" car keys in hand before I said to the dealer' Here, let me show you how to start it". A buddy had shoved the wrong kei in the ignition and you had to pull out the ignition assebly and turn the back side with a flat head screwdriver.

21 yo - 1981 Honda Accord, By far one of my favorites. Ran forever, easy to work on, comfortable, always ran, good in the snow, cheap parts, and did I mention easy to work on? Got rear ended twice. When I took it to the body shop to see about getting it fixed they said, "man theres so much rust on that car if we try to strecth it you'll end up with two cars". Bought it for $1200, drove it for 10 years and sold it for $400.

26 yo - 1986 Dodge Lancer. With 2.2L turbo. Need a spare car when my wife and I moved to Oregon for school. Hatchback. The guys at Home depot were amazed at the amount I could carry in the back of that thing (enough Landscaping timber to surround my yard in one trip). When the seals went out on the turbo I had my own batmobile smokescreen. I could drive the car for several days with no symptoms and the pull away from the light and bam all three lanes behind me disappeared in a cloud of white smoke. Fixed the turbo, Had some friends that just had a new baby and only one car between them. We sold the car to them for $1.

31 yo - 1979 Alfa romeo spider convertible. Quick, fun, red, what more could you ask for (me I asked for AC, stuck on wadsworth on a 95 deg summer rush hour made me pray for a drive by shooting to put me out of mny misery). Currently up on blocks in my garage preparing for a bottom end rebuild and transmission retooling.

33 yo - 1994 Chyrsler LeBaron Convertible - Wife wanted a convertible with AC and loved the LeBarons. She drove it for a while and hardly ever put the top down. Putting it up for sale this month.

34 yo 1998 Isuzu Trooper. Great condition, Fully loaded, largest sunroof you've ever seen, 3"lift. Great for trips to Home Depot, 4-wheelin', Hauling a trailer, crappy on gas mileage, Crappy AC(remind me to hurry up and get the Alfa fixed" Wife likes to drive during the winter (she'd rather wreck the trooper than the passat) .

37 yo 2001.5 Passat GLX, Best vehicle I've owned. Just passed 20K miles, pristine condition (not counting the cheerios in all the cracks in the back seat from my little girl). Best AC of all the cars I've owned, Wife just stole it back from me because of the heat  (gotta keep the little girl cool on these hot summer days) Now I'm back driving the Trooper (remind me to get the Alfa fixed......) Or get another Passat......

1981 Datsun 210
Yeah baby. Nothing but power. 0-60 in 3.5 minutes.

1987 Ford Bronco II
Brick reddish color, pimpin velour seats, good college car (I used to be able to fit all my belongings in the back with the seats down).

1997 Toyota RAV 4
Practical. capable. good dog space in back. slow as crap. boring.

1996 Infiniti G20
First *nice* car, had the same lame-ass *pink-y...pink-y....pink-y* door chime as the old Datsun 210 believe it or not. Awesome seats. Capable 2.0 Nissan engine, same as in the sentra SE-R, 140hp.

2000 VW Passat 1.8T
tiptronic, leather - first car I really 'modded'; added UPsolute chip, H&R OE springs, 16% tint, 16" A6 wheels with 225 rubber. I think you all know what happened to that car. *BAM!*

1995 Infiniti G20t
Yup, infiniti #2 - was so impressed with the first one, didn't have the $$$ for something new so picked it up for $6500. Note the 't' in the model name; this was the 'touring' package which included: Limited slip up front, powered sport seats (very supportive!), sunroof, 5 speed. MODS: 16" Borbet type B wheels, 205 Kumhos, tint, K&N filter, mp3 stereo.

2001 Audi A4 1.8T
FINALLY! The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!
Mods *so far*: koni coilovers, 18x8.5 BBS CHs,235/40/18 pirelli rubber, 35% tint, iceLink iPod connection, 10" sub/200w amp with stock stereo, e-codes, clear bra.
Quick! Everyone out of the universe!

1971 F100 Ranger XLT - 390 Cubic Inch, three-on-the-tree,  learned to drive a standard on this.

1983 VW Rabbit - Lost the tranny on it so got rid of it.

1995 Pontiac Grand Am - V6, quietly parked until I can afford to drop another engine (cracked crank case) in it and give it to my wife so I can drive the Passat.

1986 Chevy Celebrity Wagon - 2.8l 2 BBL,  temporary second car until I can get the above fixed.

1999 VW Passat - 30V V6 - COAM, Kamei Sport Grille, Debadged. Replacement for the Grand Aam

1. 1964.5 Mustang (08/1997-08/1997): Royal Blue, V6, and an automatic. It died on me in the first week of ownership. Sold it for $700.

2. 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 77 (08/1997-11/1997): Silver exterior. This sucker was a two door, had a big V8, the interior was ENTIRELY red (every bit, even the floormats). My friends back in high school called it "the boat". It died after three months.

3. 1991 Geo Tracker (11/1997-07/2000): A weird orange-red on the outside, and a 1.6 liter inline four under the hood, this Suzuki-powered Chevy knock-off pulled 96 horsepower and boasted a 0-60 of 12.1 seconds.  However, it was my first 5-speed manual (I got the car in my third month of driving, as my other cars had long since died), and by the time I was done, my friends were actually impressed with my acceleration. I used to do just fine against my friend's 1995 Toyota 4Runner V6 (5-speed).  Only regret: never off-roaded with it.

4. 1998 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro (07/2000-Present): My current American car, it was the most expensive thing I had ever bought, and still is. Love it to death.

5. 1995 Opel Omega 2.5 V6 Kombi (01/2000-Present): My partially owned German car.  Also a 5-speed manual, with a 2.5 V6 gas engine that makes me poor on trips from Ingolstadt to Berlin or Hamburg.  Not a slouch by any means, it has 174 horsepower and similar torque.  It is a station wagon, and purple.  The sedan is sold as the Cadillac Catera here, but my Opel has cloth seats, really fake wood, and a few problems. It'll be gone soon.

1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD:  rebuilt motor, 2g 8.5:1 pistons, 16G turbo, 2.5" cat-back w/ high-flow cat, manual boost controller, VDO boost gauge on a-pillar, 17" Enkie 10 spoke rims, eibach pro-kit springs, and Ingalls rear lower control arms.  This car got me into tuing.  Blew the motor running 20lbs of boost on the stock turbo, rebulit it with new pistons.  This is the car I fell asleep at the wheel in and went off-roading, forcing me to replace the rims and tires.  The hard impact with the curb killed the internals of the stock turbo forcing an upgrade.  After running off the road the alignment was never right and went thru 2 sets of tires in a month.  So after $8K in upgrades and repairs my parents offered to forgive me owing them that money if I sold the car, it was gone in less than a week.

1990 Mitsubishi Galant: POS, crank windows, busted AC, ran like crap, but was only $1K.  Blew the motor driving thru Wyoming on my way to Utah.  Left it at the shop who inspected the motor up in Rawlings WY.

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE:  Nice car, motor and exhaust had a really nice sound.  But it was an auto.  Put in a Sony CD deck and speakers, and a K&N filter.

1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS: Non-turbo 2.0L, 5spd.  Fun car with K&N intake, and a couple of autometer gauges.  First car I ever drove at second creek, on snow tires no less.  Gave it to my wife while she was at school in Utah.  She brought it out for my dad's wedding and we gat in a 4 car accident, insurance totaled it.

1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4: 2.0L Turbo AWD, these cars rock.  Bought this when I gave my wife the Eclipse.  Bought a really abused one, but I really wanted it.  Motor blew after 6 months, got a performance rebuild, blueprinted and balanced, high-flow 2g exhaust manifold, 2.5" down pipe and cat, 3" cat-back, and Automoter gauges.  Continual problems after rebuild prompted me to ditch it.

2001 Jetta Wolfsburg:  My first VW!!!  The dealer leased it to me with a Split Second boost controller, that made it awesome, and they still honored the warranty.  Got screwed on the lease and I decided I wanted a Gti.

2003 Gti 1.8T:  Second VW!!!  Gat a good deal on my trade and got all the options I wanted.  The car currently has Avon Tires, Mintex Brakes pads, K&N filter, euro plate, and smoked corner lights.  Taken this car to Second Creek 2 times, what a blast.  Waiting for more money to mod.

2001 Jetta GLS:  3rd VW!!! Wifes Car.  2.Slow, Auto.  Nice, comfortable car, but no power.  Has all the options minus leather.  Probably trade in for a Passat, or Toureg in a couple of years.

Let's see, that's eight cars, and I'm only 24, so 1 car per year.

My guess is that he meant 1986 CJ7...the calm before the storm known as Chrysler which almost killed Jeep.

I thought I was bad for having a car for every other year I have been drving.  I am 26, so I have only had a license for 10 years..... Car list, stories below if you care to read.

1. 1977 Ford F150 V8
2. 1996 Accura Integra GS-R
3. 2000 Ford Ranger V6
4. 2003 VW GTI 1.8T
5. 1983? Mazada Miata
6. 1984 VW GTI 8v

13... 2 stroke go-kart.  Raced and had a blast.  Sold it when I was 15.  (father paid for this one)

16... 1977 Ford F-150 short bed, short cap, V8.  Dark green, beautiful truck.  I did some 4x4 stuff to it, and put on a geek bar with 3 lights (2 square forward, one round backwards).  I actually turned on the rear one once when a guy was tailgating me really bad.  8O

17.... 1996 Acura Integra GS-R, with tan leather.  fast fun car for pretty cheap.  I put 98,xxx miles on this car.  I had 100,000 mile warranty and once that was up I was going to spend a lot on it.  My dad new the guys at nuespeed and I was going to use his hook up to deck out my car.... I was involved in a accident where I-70 was flooded, and I had $3,000 saved and ready to spend on the car.

18.... The F150 is now running on 6 out of 8 cylinders... I sell it for $1100, I paid $1500 for it, and put about $1500 into it with a stereo, new seat, 4x4 wheels and some basic suspension stuff.

20... totalled the Integra and bought a 2000 Ford ranger, extended cab, flair side, V6.  I got this with the money insurance gave me for my integra.  It was all I could afford since I just bought a condo.   :x  I hated it.  I looked after it and all, but never liked it.  It was useful, but not the vehicle I wanted

23... I bought the GTI and traded in the truck. 2003 GTI black leather, 1.8T.  Life is good now.

23.5... Bought a Miata to turn into a racecar for the SPEC miata series by SCCA.

24... Bought the General Lee.  My friend Troy tubro'd the 1984 mk2 GTI 8v.  That car was so much fun.  It handled better than any street car I have ever owned.  Plus it was fun to jump it.  Sold it after 3 months... miss it already

1. 1964.5 Mustang (08/1997-08/1997): Royal Blue, V6, and an automatic. It died on me in the first week of ownership. Sold it for $700.

Seems like someone got a steal.  Besides the engine how was the overall condition?

Somebody did get a decent deal...but not by much.  The car on the outside had some rust, although the paint job was fairly new. The inside needed a lot of work, and you could just as well forget the engine, and the transmission.

Your friend Troy, doesn't by any chance work (or maybe used to work) for McDonald Audi/VW?  The turbo bit sounds like something he might do. I worked for McDonald Audi/VW for several years in the beginning of my college career, and knew a Troy there, whom I also saw at DATR.

Umm....These do not exist :D   There is not even a 1996 Wrangler. (Jeep took a year off between the YJ Wrangler to tool up for the TJ Wrangler. So no 1996 model year at all :D )

Cole, I do not remember the year, but it was the last year of the CJ7, round lights up front, rounded hood, etc.  It was the last year before they came out with the wrangler.  Was that  1986 or 1984.  I think I made a typo for the 96 thing ;)

My guess is that he meant 1986 CJ7...the calm before the storm known as Chrysler which almost killed Jeep.

Yeah.  all i know is that it was the last year of the CJ

I kinda figured. :D  More than anything I just thought I would add some useless automotive triva about there being no 1996 convertable Jeep.

Last year of the CJ7 was 1986. Many of the drivetrain parts (mainly motor parts carried over for about half of 1987 into the YJ Wrangler)

Cool...good info.  Mine was a Lerado version I think.  It came with chrome everywhere, and was pretty cool.  It was dark metalic blue with tan interior and a tan hard top, also tan bikini top.  I had a 6 point roll cage in it.  Made it a bit difficult to climb in and out of, but it was a blast while wheelin'.  I kinda miss it, but not the "leaks"  beit engine or rain, haha.

Yep, same dude.  Caleb worked for McDonald too, which I think you would know.  There is always turbo dave, but I am not sure he worked for mcdonald.  All those guys work for Osborne now.

Here's my really short list:

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
This was my beater through high school.  Eventhough I was jealous of all those new & shiney 16th birthday gifts parked at my school's parking lot, I could fit 6 of friends inside (and three more in the trunk), had a roaring V8, and I didn't have to worry about all those parking lot dings from kids who have little driving experience.  Best of all in the winter time I love to drift in empty icy parking lots and drive straight into those huge snowbanks POOF![/b]

1992 Acura Legend LS
I bought this from my mom which had hardly any miles after 4 years.
Looked new even when it was 8 years old and still got looks even though it was almost stock.
Great performance and handling, and has all the creature comforts and luxury.  Best of all it was problem free the entire time I had it.
Sadly it was t-boned by a 16-wheeler on I-70 at Idaho Springs and was totalled (I walked away without a scratch), ironically to get it titled and registered in Denver as it came from Toronto.

2001.5 Passat GLX
The luck and irony continued 4 days after I took delivery, as I stopped in Frisco for a coffee before my traffic court hearing in Idaho Springs relating to the accident of my Legend.  A Mitsu Montero slid through an intersection and slammed into the rear end.  After $15,000 in damages and 4 long months in the shop, and lots of love and mods, it is my silver baby!
2008 Mercedes Benz C300 4matic Sport
2004 Aprilia Mojito Custom 50
