Sunday Sept. 11, 2005 Castlewood Canyon GTG
« on: August 03, 2005, 02:12:55 PM »
Update:  9 Sep 2005 11:45 AM

For clarity's sake:

Date:  Sept. 11, 2005
Time:  ~3pm
Where:  Castlewood Canyon, just south of Franktown on highway 83 (Parker Rd).
Fees:  $5 park entrance fee, unless you have Disable Veteran plates, or a pass.

Update:  8 Sep 2005 10:25 AM

I will have my cell phone on me (720.270.2147) if anyone needs to contact me.  Also, do NOT look for my car...I will have the black 4runner.

The fire ban is not longer in effect so we will be able to have charcoal.

Update:  12 Aug 2005 2:25 PM

I will be going down Sunday morning to pick up/pay for the permit.

Is anyone able to bring a gas grill as backup?

Update:  7 Aug 2005 11:10 PM

We have almost gathered enough money for the fee :prodthemasses:

Those that are coming and what they're bringing:

1.  Ian (ianacole) - BBQ, Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon, shish-kabobs, beer, and the family
2.  Andrew (34k) - beer, cups
3.  Charles (hotani) - Tabouleh (hey, something new!), Guac, cheeps (just out of habit)
4.  Jeremy (evil_O) - Beer, +?
5.  Jay (gietl) - soda, chips
6.  Dave (starlightB5) -
7.  Al (TurboDub) -
8.  Alan (aowhaus) - I will be bringing a smoked salmon pasta salad.

Please let me know, if you are coming, what you plan on bringing.  We will have a full prep/serving area (stainless steel) and water.  Technically only 3.2 alcohol is allowed...but there are always ways around that (i.e. no glass bottles at City Park).  I will bring the honorary 6-pack of Bud (3.2) to set out on display.

If someone can bring a gas grill, please let me know.

----------------------------

The masses have spoken (all 7) and have concluded that September 11th would be the best day for a GTG at Castlewood Canyon State Park.  The original thread can be found HERE, which includes pictures of the area.

I think we should start around 2:30 or 3:00pm.

The cost will be $150, and we have two weeks to collect the funds.  I will donate $30 to the event.  For those willing to donate, I can accept donations either by paypal or by meeting you.

WE HAVE 2 (TWO) WEEKS TO GATHER THE NEEDED FUNDS

I will update this thread with who is planning on attending, and what they are bringing.  If someone can offer up a gas grill in case we cannot have a charcoal BBQ due to fire concerns, that would be much appreciated.

Here is a map to the location.  The main entrance is off US 83 (Parker Road) to the east of Castle Rock.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!!

I have reserved the site, with picnic area #1.  We have until Sept. 17th before we lose our reservation.  We are at $60 towards the fee.

Yah, you're right...August 17th...CO Parks will hold the reservation for 2 weeks before we have to pay, otherwise they'll release the reservation.

Damn, I suck with dates

Got it marked on my calendar!

Ian I can chip in some cash. I am setup with Paypal, or if you are driving to Mt. Evans this weekend I can give it to you then.

I'm probably not going to be able to make the drive as I'm flying out to Sacramento tonight to drive my wife and kids back (long story...).  I've sent you an IM with my paypal account particulars.

I'll bring the following items:
- Tabouleh (hey, something new!)
- Guac, cheeps (just out of habit)

I'll be in the middle of moving, so hopefully ONE of my 2 kitchens (preferably the *new* one!) will be operational enough to prepare the above items.

...and some beer, naturally.

I am planning on being there and will figure out something to bring. Of course as usual with me things can always change in that time so I will just plan on bringing extra beverages and sides/snacks so that it's not anything anyone is relying on. :)
