haha Dan, damn straight!  Sometimes, those guests are bots for search engines so they wont and cant register.  However, if it is 29 scared people, if you don't sign up...then bad things will happen!

I've voiced this before, but I wonder how many of the total registered members we have, actually visit more than once, or become active members. How many active members do we have anyhow?

It varies, some folks just sign up to sell stuff or ask one question. This club has never been about the numbers, but the people. I'd rather have 20 active members that are good people than to have 200 members that diminish the experience.

We do our best to be open and cater to the needs of the group as a whole and hope that brings in folks that have the same interests.

As I mentioned above usually the large number or visitors occurs when we are being crawled. Other times may be from a link on a larger website such as vwvortex, clubb5 and so on.

Some of you remember Greg's grand theft repo story, want to see some HUGE numbers. We had something like 120 signups in a matter of a day. Had something like 1000+ visitors, it was insane.

Lately, we have been getting a lot of traffic because of the band B5. I got another e-mail the other day from some crazy teenage girl wanting to hook up with those kids. :)

In the end, we have a steady number of regulars. It comes and goes based on the season and what's going on in peoples lives.  Winter is always really slow and Summer is usually pretty nuts.  This was another off year for me, and depending how the wedding plans go I should be able to be a lot more crazy next summer.

What's funny is that it how a lot of our non Passat owners became members. Track days, GTG's and other events drew them to the site and they just stuck around after that.

I know we don't have a lot of "stuff" that some bigger clubs have, but this is isn't a formal club, there are no officers, no planning committe. It is all voluntary and just this year alone we have seen a lot of work by individual members to keep things going and organizing events. For that I know I, and I'm sure everyone else, am grateful.

My hope is that with fall approaching things can slow down for me in my personal life and I can get back to changing some things up witht eh site to orient it more to our needs and usage.

I certainly hope we can have another little Holiday GTG this winter where we all meet up somewhere grab some food, drink and have a little fun (maybe D&B).

Right now, we can look forward to Alan's 80's Party this weekend, the Castlewood Canyon GTG on Sept 11 and for those willing to travel, Rusty's track day in New Mexico.  That's three big events in 3 months!

I know that for some of the long time members it can be a little hard to keep up with all the ne folks. I am guilty for not having personally met a number of you, but I certainly hope to in the future.  In most cases any inactivity from formerly active members has been due to changes in personal lives (relationships, kids, moves, etc). Plenty of members have gone from Passat to <inset make here> and are still around.

Hell Jon has had like 18 million cars since his Passat, had big changes in his life, works schedules opposite of most of us and is still an active part of the club!

Hmmmm....I wonder how many people here have joined us while owning a B5 and still drive it today.
I can think of me, Chas, Dub and maybe Boris.  Anyone else?

Whatya mean "sort of"!  :D   I still take her out on the weekends.  Though I admit she  just dosn't have the zip of the 337.  I figure I have been in the club for about 3-3.5 years if you include my stint as SweetVW.  I admit it was a bad choice to drop that one.

I'm recent, but I still drive my B5 A4.  Would I if I had any money? No. Even though I love it.

gietl: You want quality over quantity? But we must build an army...oh yes, an army.  Then we will invade Utah (or Kansas, closer to St. Louis) and make it into one giant race track! Average track time, 40 hours. Take a few seconds off of that.

Hmmm...not a bad idea, almost like a cult.  We could get people to sell all their worldly posessions (except for their cool cars) and give us the money in return.
