I am in.  Still curious about the

price.  Dumb question though, Do we want an alluminum rod or a steel rod.  Are we loosing strength over weight?

I would thing that since there is

nothing there to begin with, how much strength do you really need? I would think aluminum would do the job just fine...it seems almost all of the

aftermarket items are aluminum, plus, it looks cooler and will not rust.

IMHO, the design of the brace is

more importat than the material used. Stiffness is the issue. A simple strap design is probably not that good, regardless of the material. A proper

tubular design would be ideal.

IMO Dave

BTW, I have a video, courtesy of Rian, from the Natl. GTG with in-car from the track and the mountain drive... I'd be happy to bring it along for

some viewing

I guess I should wiegh in on this,

huh?  :o

Neat site Jay!

The matterial I used seems to be fine and has added to the turn in rate of the car. The place I got the aluminum I used is about 5 minutes from my

house. They also sell steel that could be used. But painting this bad boy is a must! The grade 8 bolts, nuts and washers are there as well.

I have one other Aluminum bar mostly finished. I just wanted to wait on drilling the holes just to be sure.

Saturday the 11th should be fine. I'll talk to Renne and let her know what is what and that I'm in charge!!! (Thumps chest, "Ouch!") OK, I'll

ask... I would really like to see some other folks try this out and see if they too feel a difference. The cars with wider wheels and sticker tires

should see the most improvement.

I really want this mod...sounds

interesting, and since I have really wide tires (235's), I would love to feel the diference it makes.  The only thing is that i am not available on

weekends at all through January.

Chas, would you be up to doing an individual mod day with me sometime in the future?  Or can someone get one made for me and I can pay them

for the materials?

Jon, don't you work a lot at night? If

so, yeah, you could stop by one afternoon and we could have a go at this bar with your car. It wouldn't take very long to do. I'd make one up in

advance, but I have yet to see the bottom side of a B5.5 and wouldn't want to make it wrong.

Let me know!

Chas, that would be great.  If either

Amanda or Mike R show up for your Garage Day...can you check out their cars and see how it looks?  If they are making them, could you also do

one for me, by just duplicating thiers?

I work weekend nights all through January, then I work week days starting in February.  So I can come down any time during the week.

Thanks Chas :D

I will def. be there, and am willing to be the B5.5 guinea pig for the bar...I am still unclear as to what I need to do before saturday- just bring $30?

Then we will go to the place and get the metal, or are you getting the stuff in advance, and we will just make the bar once we get there?

Cool Amanda.  Once you all figure

out how your's works, could you also make one up for me.  Then I can run down to Chas's one day and maybe he can help me get it installed.  I

will be excited to try things out and see what a difference it can make.

OK, so here's the details folks: The

11th is a go! I think we should start at about 9am so the entire day isn't spent doing these bars. That is, so that if someone wants to do something

else I mean.

The matterials are easily had at the local hardware store. So just bring some money ($25 should cover it for two people!  :D ) The aluminum bars

come in four foot lengths so it is easy to get two manual tranny bars out of that. The Tips might take more. Since I have yet to see a Tip car to take

measurements I can't quite say how much it will need.

Also, I have a new idea on the structure of the bar. I will try it out this week on my car. It should provide even more lateral stiffness. Let's just say

Dave (Spec) should be happy.  :D

For those who either forgot or haven't been to my house the address is:

17973 E. Bates Ave
Aurora, CO 80013

Just MapQuest it to get directions here. But if you think the directions are goofy, give me a call on my cell. 303-668-4826

Oh, one more thing, we should also

think about some lunch. What should we do? There is a Subway close by or a Chipoltle or any and all the fast food places. Or whatever! But let's

think about it.

OK, so head count time. Who's

coming for sure. The wifey wants to know. All are welcome, we just want to be prepaired.

BTW, Winston, did you buy one of the AndyA6 bars? If so, I'd love to see that one up close.

I'll be there Chas.

Subway sounds great, it's easy at least.  With enough people we could just chip in on a 3 footer or something, I think Subway likes 24 hrs. notice.

I say we try to make this garage day as easy on you as possible.  I will be happy to bring a couple bags of chips (if we go the sandwich route), or

some soda...whatever.

~Wendy

PS my car's a tip...just in case you want to get a rough supply list in your head.

Snow is forecasted!!! Looks like I can

make this. However, I need to leave by 12pm noon. Wifey needs a break from the baby to go shopping so I have the afternoon w/ the baby (no, I

can't bring her to the garage day). Is there any way I can be the first tip to be installed?

Argh, snow!! Just the mere mention of putting the 18s back on brought it! Why couldn't it wait til Sunday? I am going snowshoeing then anyway...

:P

Course, this could be another false alarm, like the other 10 snow storms we've had pass through in the last 2 months...
