You can do package deals through Comcast or Qwest.

With Comcast you can get:
Cable
Cable internet
Phone

Qwest:
Dish
DSL
Phone

I have comcast internet and cable, use our cells for our phone line.

No, qwest is not dish...we have dishNetwork and DirectTV for Satellite service.  Qwest does offer the full range of LEC services.  We have phone, fax, 3 cell phones, and DSL through them and have never had any troubles.

eek, Qwest's service map isn't very appealling. Unless I'm in the Virgin Is., most everyplace looks to be ROAM. what're their roaming charges like?

Comcast pretty much has the monopoly on broadband out here. There is DSL thru Qwest and others but not as fast. You should be able to get 4Mbit with cable.

I hate having to use Comcast because they force me to get cable, it should just be $45 or so for the broadband, but if you don't get cable with it there is a $10 penalty. So, for $3 more than that I have basic cable. Bill is $61/month.

I don't use Qwest at all, instead my phones are hooked up to VoIP via Vonage over my broadband connection. That is $15/month, but it ends up more like $18 with taxes and other stuff.

Xcel is the energy monopoly out here, but you probably already have that set up.

with vonage can your dish or directTV call home? Assuming you have either.
We have Vonage now and it's great for phone, but our directTV can't call home. SOunds like a common problem most places with vonage, just curious. We're likely going to go regular land line this time around.

THat sucks about Comcast dinging you for not getting cable thru them as well. I hate that.

Yeah saw that Xcel was the energy co. what about water and sewer, none of the move utilities sites had links or info on water/sewer or gas.

I think Xcel covers your gas too. Water is different all over, mine is covered with the HOA, you'll have to ask the neighbors or something (HR folks speak up!).

Yes, my TiVo series 1 could not 'phone home' with Vonage - but Series 2 boxes can just use the network (maybe Dish has something similar?). Fortunately when I set up vonage i had already decided to ditch the TiVo service for Netflix/torrents.

You also need to look at Sprint's coverage map, as the networks are now shared between the two.

Xcel will be your electric and Gas, you will probably have to pay for trash pickup seperate, not sure if HR allows you to pick your company or if it is included in HOA. Water, again not sure, I am in Centennial, but I still pay Denver for water every other month.

We use Tmobile for cell service.

so qwest and sprint share networks? That's good to know. She loves sprint. We've got cingular now, and it's not impressing her out there.

Cool deal on Xcel and water and gas and such. we'll inquire about what the HOA has set up, if anything.

Yeah DirectTV/Tivo is a bit behind, stand alone Tivo. No networking capabilities that I know of. I've seen a few articles on putting the latest OS on a DTivo box, but she's risk averse when it comes to the Tivo. We need more or less out of the box solutions for that. :( Alas, land line here I come.

That blows - basic landline from Qwest, no LD, no features, just the line is about $28/month. Hence my move to Vonage. Yeah, DTV and the like need to get with the times.

they sure the hell do. It's not so bad not making the call, just inconvenient. it bugs us every other time we sit down now. "I need to call, it's been a long time..." :)

I'll see what she can work for a package. We may end up with Vonage only because of price LOL

HAHA I know exactly what you mean. My TiVo has been severed from the collective for several months now and bitches about it every time i turn it on. I do still use it in manual mode for BSG.... coz I just can't wait those 6 hours or whatever for the torrent to show up!

ha ha ha. yeah I had to fiddle with our season passes, to get BSG back on the todo list. What not to wear was taking precedence. Oh hell no!
