I hear ya guys, cant wait to see what its going to look like.  Talked to a local buddy of mine, and he's going to be working on another Jetta4 tomorrow, so we're both going to be doing suspension work at his place.

Once the springs settle, it should be a nice drop.  Here's a picture of what the car looks like now as it sits.

Time to say goodbye to the SUV...

Sunday... it will be no more.

Here's what the car looks like now with it being lowered.  The car is a little too low now, but I'll raise it up before too long.

Enjoy the pics.

Looks good Scoob! What kind of wheels (size too) are those? My B6 is reflex silver and I have been perusing new booties. I've been looking at black BBS with a polished rim but have also been thinking of the type of rims you have.

Kudos, nice job!

What I love is the car looks so good with the wheel gap gone, yet it seems like yous till have good ground clearance. Something we all suffered with the B5 was the rapid loss of ground clearence with the lowering.

Just awesome steve, you just keep amazing us with this stuff!

Thanks Jay, glad I can keep everyone on their toes.  This new Mk5 Golf/Jetta stuff is new to me.  And I have a feeling Im the first to use these coilovers on a GLI, as many little quirks came across as we were installing them yesterday.

These wheels are 18x8 Milli Miglia MM2's, 35mm offset, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires in 225/45/18.  I did not use any spacers, but technically, 35mm offset doesnt fit the new Golf/Jetta platform as it pokes out.  With the drop, they tuck in "OK"  but I do have some rubbing.  Im condsidering the idea of going to someone to shave 3-5mm off of the backing plate of the wheels to see if things will clear then.  If thats the case, then I'll probably keep the wheels instead of selling them.

BTW, these are for sale, PM me.  These wheels are no longer made in this finish my MM, so its a hard to find wheel.

Thanks again for the compliments,
Steve

Wow that looks way nice now!  Sweet wheels and I like your choice of tires (Goodyear GS-D3's).

You're car looks so hot.. love it.

I don't know if it is the angle of the phtos....but lower and with the wider wheels it looks a lot longer... more like a passat.

What is the standard set up on the mk5, 5x100 et???

225/45-18??? is that a typo, or is the mk5 a plus size tire (standard is 225/40-18)

Looks very nice.  Great work!
Thought about blacking out the chrome window trim?  That would make it look sportier.

Thank you, its amazing what some suspension work and wheels can do to a brand new car.

Sorry, it is infact 5x112 for all 2005.5 Volkswagens, all across the board, except Touareg, which is still the 5x130 or whatever for Porsche.  Tire size is 225/40/18 all around, so its still the same as what it would be for a Passat.

Thank you, once again.  Ive thought about trying to take it off and do something like a brushed aluminum affect to it.  But, my balls arent big enough to mess with that idea yet.

Give it time Steve, they'll grow bigger and bigger as you get more used to the car. Remember the first time you modded your Passat?

I thought so. You're an old hand at this mod thing. Don't get all squishy on us now.

BTW, brilliant car man, Brilliant!!!

I shot a TV spot for a local VW dealler a couple of weeks back (Lithia VW) and I was oozing all over that very same car. That red is better in person! 8)  8)

Squishy?  Im only squishy because its a brand new car.  I feel bad enough being the first GLI owner to start tearing into the suspension and install coilovers.

You've said it Chas, this color is really appreciated more when you see it in person.  Salsa Red is a powerful color, and cameras just dont seem to capture its full depth.

Thanks again for the comliments, it truely is a brilliant car to drive, very fun.

DO NOT have your wheels shaved.... that is a very dangerous idea! If you ever plan on doing any kind of "spirited" driving on those wheels or even if you have to make some sort of emergency manuever, that could seriously put you at risk! Most wheel designs use that center thickness as a basis for the strength of the entire wheel, if you go mucking with it you will reduce the wheels ability to stay strong and increase your odds of bad things happening.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not do that!!

3-5mm's is really going to sacrifice things that much?
