Poker Run

Anyone ever done one of these before? You sign up and pay $5. You get cards at each checkpoint along the way... 3 checkpoints and you get 2 cards at each checkpoint... best 5 of 7 cards (like in poker) wins, and collects the Jackpot. $5 ea. to enter. The route would be local canyon roads, but nothing crazy... you just have to get to the check-points and follow a simple map to get to the next checkpoint. (perhaps your card will become a wild card! ) Not a speed situation... more like a fun run.  The Poker cards will be marked to assure legitimacy. Wild cards are at the discretion of the organisers.

It's all about fun...

Let's take a poll

Dave that would be a blast!  I did one of these on a bike about 10 years ago and got crap, but maybe my poker luck is changing!

Are you organizing Dave or do you know of some folks? I'd be interested depending on the date and time.

I would be happy to put the entire thing together... planning the route, pre-running it, route directions etc. The only thing I would need is two volunteers to station their car at the second and third check-points and deal the cards. I would man the first and last check-point.

If we get 10 people to participate, and that could mean 10 cars (or more)  or any number of cars and passengers who pay the ante, then I would consider doing the planning. As long as we get $50 in the pot, then it becomes worthwhile to the participants. The final check-point, would, of course, be a bar and the winner would probably feel some considerable peer-pressure to buy the first round of beers...

I was thinking Sat. Oct 11... afternoon

Lets see what the response is here and if it takes signs of life, I'll post to CB5.

So what's the status on this deal? I'd be down, especially if it was the 4th or something

Dave,

I am down for either weekend, but I may have to leave early if it is the 4th for another engagement.

Go ahead and set it up and I'll be there.  Let me know if you need any help.

Not much interest in this drive/GTG so far.  Perhaps we can try again in the springtime....
