Merry christmas / Season's Greetings to all!
« on: December 21, 2005, 03:59:01 PM »
Here's hoping that everyone has a safe and happy Holiday this year! I am actually leaving for "The Great White North" tomorrow. It will be an 18 hour trip.
This will be the first LONG trip with the new Passat. :?  Could prove interesting!
In any case, have a Great Christmas everyone. All the best to you and your families this Season!

Thanks Hoser! I'll bring back some "Back Bacon and Beers". Maybe even a touque or two eh. It's going to be weird being back in Canada without an electrical cord hanging out of the grill for a block heater.

Oh man... I-80 or I-70?

If you ever find a t-shirt out there form the Wasatch Brewery for the "Polygamy Ale" can you pick one up for me (XXL)? I'll pay you for that! The saying on the back is "Polygamy Ale... Bring Some Home for the Wives". Gotta love that one.

Have a good Christmas!

I'll be here in Denver, but spending most of the time with my in-laws.

That 18 hour car ride doesn't sound so bad.

flying to Toronto friday for Christmas and New Years.
It will be soooooo nice to spend days doing absolutely nothing -- Yuki will definately have a great time too (lots of attention all day long and playing for hours in the snow).

Have a happy holiday and even better new years all!

Yes, here's to everyone relaxing (when possible) and enjoying the holidays.

For some dumb reason, I chose to fly coach rather than enjoy the first-class accommodation in my Audi.  I guess my reason was to save a vacation day, and probably a night's stay in some random motel room.  I'll miss seeing that stupid bridge over I-80 in Kearney.  Oh well.

Just don't stop to take a picture.  They are very serious about the parking fine there.  Why?  'cause lots of people stop to take that picture.

What the hell are we talking about?

I'll likely be going by about 3am.  the only one to see me stop would be a nearby cow.  that said though, any shot I take would likely be a 75-80 mph view out the sunroof.   8O

My firm actually designed the archway and the museum inside of it -- I never had the chance to drive by it and see it in person, but I would like to next summer.  There's a parking lot and rest stop area there so you don't need to stop on the side of the highway, which could be dangerous.

Everyone be safe out there!!!  I have almost been hit about six times in the last three days by road raging shoppers in mini-vans and SUV's.

That is why i am using RTD to get back and forth.

I am too scared of the road raged SUV driving soccer mom who is running behind getting to Baby Gap to buy some holiday socks for her screaming 2 year old that deserves to have him mouth duck taped shut because his crying is causing my ear drums to bleed.

Hehe, thanks!  That thing always bugged me, mainly due to the radar guns they let visitors play with.  I'd probably stop to look it over if they did not have such short hours and such a high cost of admission, and the long backtrack to get to it.  I think it was a pork barrel project of some sort.
Also when I'm in Nebraska I'm usually trying like hell to get out of it, never gave much thought to tourisim in the Kearny area (the sandhill country is kinda nice though.)

I spent a week under battleship gray skies in Wisconsin.  Nice to be back here riding around on my motorcycle on sunny days in January.

we should have gotten together to commiserate.  I was under those same skies just a little south in Northern IL.  and you are right, when I am going under that bridge, I am almost always calculating the amount of time remaining between there and the border.

on a side note,  rest areas in IA now offer free wireless internet access.  pretty cool.
