GTG at Alan's pad -- throw some dates around.
« on: January 04, 2006, 07:16:16 PM »
I'm thinking of throwing another GTG at my loft in the next month or so, since it has been a while.
Feel free to throw some dates around.

My b-day is on Sunday February 5th, so I'm thinking of maybe doing something around that time and maybe hit up a movie or something.

That would be awesome.  Been a while since I have been over to your place.

This is a long shot, but I have the weekend of February 17th thru the 19th off...moving in that weekend (Saturday is the big moving truck day so mark your calendars, hehe).  But, if you can wait that long, maybe a GTG on Saturday the 18th?  I for sure could use a little down time after the move, and I have that weekend off for a change.  And for those that are willing to help with my move, it would also be a nice little GTG afterwards.

Just a thought....

should we make this some kind of themed party? (sushi party, some kind of liquor tasting, etc.?)

I say some kind of food theme, and a tie in liquor with the food theme.  ie---Mexican with the tequilla, Italian with the wine, sushi with saki, etc.

Ahhh, well there is some great Polish food.  Pierogui, potato pancakes, noodles, sausage, etc.  Interestingly, my Polish friend says they make coffee Turkish-fashion in Poland, with the mud on the bottom.

If you are ever in Chicago, there are great Polish restaurants there.  This one is probably Czar:

we could make it really simple and have everyone bring an appetizer and either wine or beer -- can't go wrong with that.

It's always difficult to do a specific theme which pleases everyone.

Actually I've been to a few White Trash parties.
Those were fun.
Cheap canned beer, Colt 45's, Franzia, cheese in a spraycan, pigs in a blanket, pork rinds, twinkies, spam, etc...

Could always do a Canadian theme... beer, beer, toques, beer, beer, back bacon, beer, beer, Bic's pickles, beer, beer and then for good measure bring some beer. Oh yeah, Crown Royal too. I'll bring some hockey sticks and we can play a good old fashioned game of "street hockey" in the parking lot. 8O

Feb 5th is the Superbowl, and I have already planned a party that day (you want to come down?  Just got a 34" widescreen HDTV!)

The weekend of the 18th sounds good to me.  The only caveat is that my turbo is going - starting to leak oil around the turbine shaft.  If i don't have a new turbo by then, I might be hesitant to drive it that far 'cause the oil consumption is up to about 1 quart in 500 miles... 8O

Rusty, do you have another vehicle to drive?

I'm down with February 18th (saturday), but open to any other saturdays after that.

Cool.  Liquor Mart is having a gin sale next Mon/Tue, and they now carry some Jenever, which I have not had outside of the Netherlands.  Maybe I will bring some o' that.
