40,000 mile service
« on: January 09, 2006, 08:08:06 PM »
Where should I go to get this done? How much will it cost and how much of it can I do myself?
Thanks!

Matt

Matt -

You can do things like plugs, air and cabin filter, oil and oil filter. I believe 40K is one of the bigger maintenance itesm, so if you do all that you may still want to hit the dealer or Autobahn Premier Service to have things like the t-belt and tensioner checked, get the door hinges greased and any other items that need oil products.

You can hit up the link below to check your service schedule and get an idea of what is done:

I would be happy to do the service for you if you wanted.  Also if you want to DIY I can help you source all the parts for the 40K work.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

How long will it take and approximately how much $? If you can do it on a Sat. or after 5pm on a Fri. I am sure it could probably use a good looking over to make sure everything is ok. Are you able to do alignments also?

Thanks

Took car to McDonald for this service and it was a very expensive spark plug and oil change. I think the biggest things for your year (2001.5) are spark plugs and brake fluid change. For my car, VW says to change the TB tensioner!

I highly recommend Autobahn.

PM Sent with details on time and parts cost.

I can not do allignments, but if you need one, I would highly recomend Tire Source in Boulder.  It is a bit of a drive, but the price and quality can not be beat.

I don't know about the price at the Tire Source, but Performance Wheel and Tire at Oxford and Santa Fe has a Hunter alignment machine, and they run $99 for all 4, plus they can do race setups.
