DUBS ALONG THE ROCKIES

http://www.wasserwerx.com/dubshow/

July 26th, 2003
9:30-4pm

Proposed entry fee: $5

Originally I wasn't able to make this show, but now I can.  So who wants to go?

Attending so far:

ColoradoB5
Wendy Darling
Gietl
Madigan

Let me know if you plan on going and I'll add you to the list.

For those of you who are planning on going to Dubs Along the Rockies tomorrow, we are planning on meeting between 7:30 and 8am at the Burger King on County Line Road, right by the mall.  This is the BK next to Chic Fil-A.  Another caravan group organized at VWVortex is meeting at the Krispy Kreme just up the road.

The plan is to get some breakfast and meet up with those guys on the highway down.  I have directions to get to Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs, so I'll hand those out when we meet up so everyone knows where to go.

Jay is going to bring the t-shirts and frisbees that have not been sold yet, and I have stickers for Jay and JR.

There will be concessions there as well as food in the mall, so bring some cash and you cameras and let's have some fun!

I have contacted all but one sponsor

on the list, greedspeed.com has a website that you cannot get into without a password, so I will probably fax or mail them the letter. If you want to

give me more sponsors, that's cool.. I can work on them early next week.

And are we having a meeting next week? 719 has been down all day (until tomorrow) so I haven't really been able to find out what's going on

down south.

Well the latest meeting was last

night and only Max (chairman), Wendy and I showed up, which is a bummer because it means Amanda could have come too, because we could

have made it earlier in the day.

Oh well.

We are looking for locations right now, so if you know of a place (especially one where you have contacts) that would be able to hold parking 200 or

so cars and would have room for spectators etc., in the area between Denver and Colorado Springs, please let me know.

Also, hold June 22nd open and let's plan on going to the show with the whole group together.

As always, if you want to help lend a hand in any way, just let Wendy, Amanda or myself know.

Thanks,
Dub

Me me me!  Send me some names

and I'll call some people.

You said you're looking for a place for DATR between Denver and CS.  Would the DTC appeal to you?  There's a very small chance I could get

Invesco to offer up the parking lot/garage.  Maybe not the ideal environment, but let me know what you think.

Pat, that might be an option.  Let me

know if you think you could do it!  We would be able to pay them some money for it too!

A parking structure could be

interesting...it would be nice to set up booths, and having a walk through protected form the elements.  If the sun is out, it will save us from heat

stroke like we had at the national GTG last summer.  The only problem with the garage and displays would be getting power for lights to show what

products are being offered...or views into engine bays.  With enough light, that would not be an issue.

Maybe use a parking structure for visitors and the lot for the show cars and stuff like that.

Just some thoughts.  DTC would be a great location, good for both north and south V-dubbers.

Well it looks like we have a venue: Sky Sox baseball field in Colorado Springs.  The great thing about this place is that they have great concessions, including great ball park dogs and beer as well.

Another great hing would be that admissions are potentially free, but we'll have to see how this turns out before I let the cat completely out of the bag.

Winston...do you know a tentative date for the event?  I need to plan out my work schedule to make sure I am not working that weekend.

What's going on with this?  Any planning? Just noticed it had been 3 months since the last update and honestly I kind of forgot about it ;)

Well, I had to back out of the planning since my sister in law is getting married that day in Minnesota!  But I just found out last weekend that she had to change the date, so I can go now...

It looks like they have things under control, so I am going to let them finish planning this.  I have let them know that I have a lot of sponsor information and to contact me for that, but I have not heard back from them...

Cool! Is there a link to any other details than what we have posted? Maybe something to get the individual planning going?

That's awesome that you'll still be able to go!

It'll be really cool if we can get a larger group and get all the Passats together and all the Audis together.

Hey JR!  Glad to see you made it over!  We have been talking (OK, so Wendy was talking...) about a GTG at Dave & Busters soon, so keep an eye peeled for that and we can all hang out and play some racing games...

JR, I just updated the date for this show, which will be at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs.  Due to scheduling reasons, I won't be making this show.

I am just starting to pay attention to this but is the date correct?  Wed July 23?
If so I cannot make this one.  Got customers coming to the office that day.

JR, I think I may be going to this, but I'll have to check my calendar.

Summers are so busy!

Congratulations on the interview!  Let us know about how it goes.

I think we should all sport our RMCB5 shirts and show up en masse so let's plan it!

We should get there early 9am, and it's only $5 to enter.  I know DCI is going to have a booth set up, so we can always chill with those peops.

There are some good prizes to be had too, many of which I actually negotiated before I backed out of the planning on this...

I'm hoping to get a lot more pictures and have more than 3 Passats there.

Let me know if you are in and we can start a DATR attendance/planning/caravan thread...
