Congrats Ted!  I love your car, and Mark and I enjoy working on it when ever you decide to let us.

I would like to point out that his car, yes the car, is currently on probation.  However it is good to see this community is open minded enough to honor it's owner with the member of the month. :D

Very good ted.  Nice and short to the point.

Have you got her back yet?

BTW, you mentioned light clutch/flywheel... I would not recommend SPEC.  While Ian and I had not issues, there are tons of people that have broken ones with less than 1k on them and SPEC does nothing for them.

ive had her back for about 2 weeks now.  she is driving nice and slowly so as not to attract the attention of her probation officer (i.e. every denver police officer)...lol!

I got mine through  ECS Tuning.  Do they use the SPEC, or Fidanza.  I seem to remember getting a Fidanza box for mine, but it's the 7lb. flywheel, not the 14lb., I don't know if this makes a difference in source.

i'm looking through ecode tuning...they have a "custom" SBC OFE SS with pressure plate, LWFW setup that is sprung and solid face disc said to handle up to 400ish BHP and plenty of torque...more than my car could put out.  there are 12.6 sec a4s launching at 4-5k rpm running this setup with not so much as an issue, and no reports of failures yet.  the custom clutch guy who produces these for ecode fully backs his product as well, a nice ins. policy.  the friction point is lower in the pedal range, but otherwise the cluth is reportedly very streetable as a daily driver.

SPEC is not the way to go, I have fixed a few "explosions" and I am sure Pat would agree.

Fidanza is a great company.  We have installed quite a few of the LFWF and I have heard nothing but good things.  eCode is a reputable company, but I have no personal experiance.

What a great looking car, and a great write up.  Just by looking at the exterior of the car, I would have never known it was modified to that extent.  Sleeper is a nice term, and the Ultrasport is a classy, yet sporty ride.  Congrats...

I also agree.  Pat and I replaced our clutches around the same time, and we both had issues.  He puts down more power then I did in my Passat, and still tons of issues.

Congrats! Your car is definitely a fine example of an A4 done right. I'm pretty sure I've seen it around town and admired it whenever our paths have crossed...
