Ever Want to just move?
« on: February 23, 2006, 09:20:33 PM »
Do you ever just want to a little foreign country, buy a flat, work in a cafe and live out the rest of your days in relative peace and calm?
Yes, that is my day today passed on from my beat down, ripped apart, chewed up, spit out school teacher wife.
Are there any schools anymore that won't sit idliy by and let their teachers get minced by parents for not backing down with students' behavoir??

for what school teachers make these days, no one deserves that much of a chewing.  If she was some CEO earning millions, then yes, you deserve to be belittled.

Sorry she is having such a bad day.

I have often thought of chucking it all, doing the third world thing, and just getting away, but I like my toys too much right now.  Talk to me in 10 years though.

My goal is to buy a mountain, build a house on top, and a fence on the bottom.  A few land mines and turrets would be in order too.

The cute flat in the foreign country has leaky plumbing and loud neighbors. Your boss at the cafe down the street is a total arse and the customers constantly have bugs up their bums.

I feel that many times.
People suck -- I'm referring to the incompetitant, ignorant and stupid kind.

I really miss living in Italy. Too bad I didn't appreciate it more when I was there.

Anyways, Trish should take things with a grain of salt and don't let them get to you.  Worrying or getting mad will not change the situation.  Based on what I've heard, she has done nothing wrong and the parent's accusations are totally unreasonable and without merit -- she has nothing to worry.

A trip overseas would be nice...

you don't even have to go that far, just move out here to Brighton.  LOL!   8O

PS, sorry to hear about the bad day.  teachers don't get paid well enough to have to deal with that much stress!

Jay and Ian... I just hate having to rub it in... oh wait, no actually I quite enjoy it.

Montana... My parents have a small get-away they have had for a long time.  My father built the cabin, I helped a little when I wasn't in school.  These are pictures from Crystal, my parents and I going up there in August '05.

Montana?? I spent the majority of my life there..it's cheap! Well, relative to what we get paid to live around here. Finding a decent job would be anothe matter. My parents live there now again. Used to go mountain biking in the Mission Valley Wilderness...oh! It was wonderful :)

cheap is a relative term. We lived in Bozeman and the property was not really cheap. If i could have found a better paying job we would still live there.

$1.2 to $2 million each (and it's on a lake).  8)

Alan, sorry, but looks like I am going to be about $1,999,990 short.   8O

sounds like a cool place though.  what sort of place does $2M get you in a condo on a lake?

Dang JR, sorry to hear that about your lady.

I have those days frequently up here in CT.  It is not what I am used to.  Plus we just had our first big heating bill of the season.  I though the $475 and $623 bill for the first couple months of real winter.  The $840 was too much.

They asked me to pay it all in 25 days!

I gotta get some alternative heating going on here.

Hey honey!

:

It would be nice if it were closer to Vancouver but it's about a 5 hour drive. My friend in North Van is already talking about renting his place out for th eOlympics, should bring a good price. I rented out my home in Calgary for the 1988 Winter Olympics... $1,500.00 for the 10 days... was rented out in less than an hour!

JR - is this the result of the incident you mentioned a few weeks/months ago...having to pass a failing student or get sued and student talking smack about it?

I'll talk to him and see what his thoughts are as to price and dates and reality of his idea. If he is serious I'll send you a pm and you guys can talk to each other and figure out the $$$ and dates etc...

Nope, completely unrelated issue, well topically. Parents are still aholes. And the admin at the meeting just sit there and nod thier heads at whatever will pacify the parent even if it's a lie.
