HA!

How about this: meet at the food court at 16th and California at the top of the stairs at High Noon. Lots of room and food options including a good Japanes place.

What do you consider decent?  I think Sambooka's, The Palm, McCormicks are out of the question for lunch :( . I am thinking something basic and affordable..

You know McCormick's has a super cheap bar menu after 10pm?? I used to eat there in Chicago while I was at school all the time.

food court?   Not that I don't like you all, but I am not going to drive an extra 1/2 hour for lunch at a food court.

how about someplace like My Brother's Bar, or Marlowe's, or The Breckenridge Brewery, or even the Hard Rock?

actually the japanese place, as well as the vietnamese place at the food court are really good - just don't have the ambulance and $$$ of other places.

I can think of several decent affordable places, but 12 noon is a pretty tall order -- most places get really packed about then.

There is Little India and Laguna's on Champa - both really good sit-down places that don't fill up too bad.

how about Johnny Maguires Deli?
It's on Stout just west of the 16th street mall.  Awesome hot subs and sandwiches.

McCormick's has an awesome happy hour special from 3-6pm.  Many appetitzers are $1.99 (including a cheeseburger plate), and $4 vodka and wines.
Jax (the best seafood restaurant in the city) has their oyster month with 50 cent oysters and lots of oyster specials and events (shucking and eating contests). A donation will be made for each oyster sold.  Their regular happy hours are really good too.

We should do a happy hour GTG sometime soon.

hehe  I'm not sure I am going to want to go somewhere that requires an ambulance.

I'd be up for either Little India or Laguna's too.

That and I can probably get there a little prior to 12 to try to hold a table.

I've actually never been to Marlow's - how is it at high noon?

I'm always up for Laguna's - really good mexican food and you can usually get a spot in there any time.

When I have been there they have usually been pretty quick, assuming you don't have to wait on a table.

If you are a close walk to get there I would think we could get done in an hour.

I am open to other spots though if timing is a concern.

Marlow's is good, I've been there a few times, but they do tend to fill up at lunch.  It may be difficult to find a table for everyone right at noon, unless we can get reservations.

The food court option doesn't sound bad.  Chipotle and Arby's are right below it, and there is a deli right across California from it.

yeah in that general area is chipotle, lemongrass grill, Fontano's deli... then over on stout is La Salsa which is very good also.

(caution: sidetrack)
I second the downtown happy hour GTG sometime - what places have good happy hours?

food court as described sounds better than most.  I guess I can cope. :o

lets head there if it is convenient for most folks and fits well in the time window.

I'm staying out of this. The late night happy hour at McCormick's is awesome. You can't beat a 1/2lbs. $1.95 burger :)

I'm at 15th and Wazee. Sounds like fun. might be able to make it.

Food court is ok with me as is little India. Never been there, but always down for Indian.

Mexican works for me too.

Where exactly is Little India?
I really like India House on Market and 16th.  Their all you can eat Indian buffet for $7.95 is awesome, especially if you are really hungry.  Great atmosphere and interior.  Their dinner menu is top notch too.

Chipotle is good but extremely busy during the lunch hour.
I'm down for the food court.  There's a great Asian place tucked in the corner of the third floor with great rice paper roll wraps.

little india is on champa just south of 16th beside Laguna's. Not sure how busy they get at noon, and their dining room isn't huge so seating could be tricky depending on how many of us there are. I've only been there a couple of times but they have the same deal -- $7-something buffet.

Food court is probably the easiest, lots of options and we should have no problem finding seating for everyone that comes out.

Yeah the noodle place on the 3rd floor is great, really good vietnamese food -- no pho unfortunately, but everything I've had there has been good. And although the Japanese place on the 2nd floor may look really generic, their food is very authentic.

For something more upscale, there is lemongrass grill across the street (california) - just grab it to go and meet us in the court.
