Saturday Night HUNT!
« on: April 06, 2006, 01:10:34 PM »
For those of you who are looking for something to do this Saturday Night, there is a GTG with a purpose.

This Saturday might be a BIG turnout at the weekly GTG downtown.  There are plans on AW to help Sonny go look for his car.  He is the owner of a Black S4 Avant that was stolen a few weeks ago.

The car has been spotted in town a couple time recently, and a bunch of AW people are putting together a hunt for it.  I suggested to meet at the Conoco @ 8 and start the search from there.

Time to make a GTG have a greater purpose (not that the lack purpose, but this add's to it) and help a fellow owner out.

wow, that's really ambitious.
I'm still surprised that the car is still in town and being driven too (and not in pieces by now).

I think car thefts are pretty low on the DPD priority list. Most people I know who have had their cars stolen in Denver are never looked for by the police. They are usually stumbled upon when they are abandoned somewhere.

I am surprised as well that it hasn't been parted out. I do admint that is pretty...ballsy, to be driving around in a car a lot of people are keeping their eyes open for.

There are somethings like thefts that are low on the priority list..."that's what insurance is for" is a common mindset.
This could be a very cool GTG. I'd like to be there when/if the car's found...

EDIT: I just talked with Tish and we're in and she's excited about it!

I spoke to my friend with the Denver PD.  They are aware of the car, and are looking for it.

He also is going to be on partol Sat. night, so he will help us if we happen to come upon the car. :D

Nice! Well not to be such a nancy about it, just be aware, everyone that does this is doing it as their own deal, this is not an RMCB5 GTG ;). Even if I go, it's me going. We are showing support as individuals for Sonny.

I only bring this up because if someone does see the car and makes an irrational decision to try and pursue the car and mayhem results, well we just need to be sure we act responsibly. If you see the car, CALL THE POLICE, take pictures, follow ata  safe distance until help comes.

We don't want anyone getting hurt or arrested. Most of all we don't want it to be a negative impact on the community as enthusiasts and citizens.

Uh...Nancy, er, Jay, stoping being a Nancy, er...Jay er, yeah. I would hope people would call the cops. Chasing would be a bad idea. If it's not the cops, it'd mostly cause the theives to run increasing the chance for damage to Sonny's car, your car and anybody else in the vicinity. Nobody wants that. You'd probably get tickted too.
But I'm sure they'll go over all that at the meet. If not, then I will.

I agree...a level of caution must be maintained to protect everyone that participates, their cars, and the public in general...

JR....glad you are gonna step up if no one else does.  Fun can still be had, but it does not need to cost someone as a result of an accident.

If I have the scout running I can bring that, but I might run into a lot of stuff.

I should drive the Xterra...It's safer if I get attack by a car thief ring and worth less if they catch me. Yeah, and I'm gonna throw the dogs in the back. They wouldn't attack a bunny, but the bad guys don't know that ;)

All I can picture right now is Too Fast, Too Furious when there are a 100 racers leaving that warehouse and such.
