Alan, I have a sneaking impression that your car has never been dirty.  It looks clean enough to park inside your new pad!

Hi alan I am new here. I have the same car. Help me out man, I have exhaust and thats it. I need more mods, but can't find any web sites that have parts for the 4motion v6 cars. Where did you get your intake? Hook me up with some links man. I am anxious to get busy.

Welcome Nick!
I made the intake myself.  The mod is commonly called COAM -- Colorado Airbox Mod as it was first done by a bunch of Colorado Passat club members.

The mod basically entails taking out your stock airbox, cutting a hole in it and attaching a flexible hose and running it to the lower bumper opening.  This allows for more fresh air into your airbox with a much shorter length of intake (about a foot or so).  I've used one 3" hose, but you can use two 2" hoses which is easier to work with.  This also works well if you remove the airbox prefilter and use a K&N air filter -- just remember to clean and charge your air filter periodically since there will be more dirt and debris collecting in your airbox than before.

Parts could be bought at Home Depot.  It took me almost two days to fabricate and install it -- I've used marine grade expoxy putty glue to attach and mold the tubing to the airbox, which requires the putty to cure overnight. It worth the time and patience as it is so much cheaper than an aftermarket  cold air intake and I think it's a little more effective since you are directly extracting cool blowing air from the outside instead from inside the hot engine bay.

Good luck!

wow, I really appreciate the advice alan, I'm gonna get started on that immediately and I'll check back in if I run into any snags. Oh yeah by the way, where is th airbox pre-filter located?

Wow Alan, if you sell your B5.5, that means I should prepare to sell mine too!  Have you decided on a replacement?  Maybe that Volvo you have been drooling over for a while?

I don't want to look like a traitor but i like:

4. 2006 Lexus IS250 AWD
I really like the look of the exterior, though the interior is very bland.  The AWD is only available on the smaller V6 engine, which is a shame.  For the price you get an excellent Nav system with rear view camera and an awesome Mark Levingston sound system.  The quality and service is top notch, and getting your car serviced at the dealership is actually a pleasurable experience.

and:

2. 2007-2008 Audi A3 3.2 S-tronic S-line
The engine, transmission and DSG drivetrain combo is hard to beat.  The 2008 has a few more desireable added features and options such as iPod interface, Homelink, auto dimming mirror with compass, and the Titanium package (anthracite 18" RS4 wheels, black grill trim, black headliner and piano black gloss interior trim).  I am leaning towards the special order Sprint Blue exterior (an S4 color).  An almost fully loaded model is at the top of my budget.
