more restaurant suggestions?
« on: April 11, 2006, 02:47:29 PM »
any nice places you'd suggest down south?

looking for some place nice to take the wife out on her birthday. Kids are staying down south so since we have to drop them off down there, looking for some place tech center-ish.

There's Morton's Steakhouse, Maggiano's, Cool River.  Any particular cuisine you're looking for?

Didn't know there was a Morton's in the tech center, only knew of the one downtown.

no particular cuisine, but lets put it this way If we were going out in Boulder we would be headed to the Boulder Chop house or the Greenbriar.  downtown, probably Mortons or the chop house.

Maggiano's is usually too busy/too loud.  never heard of Cool River.  melting pot would be good, but will never get a reservation on this short of notice.

I'd recommend Morton's then.  It's just east of DTC Parkway and on the South side of Belleview.  Cool River is a steakhouse too, but can be loud.

I think Mortons is at DTC and Bellview?  South-East corner.

I would goto Brooks!  OMG there Steaks are freaking awesome!!!  Its almost head to head between Morton and Brooks on steaks.  I like Brooks better.

Not sure how far south you're heading, but we really enjoy Fresh Fish Company (if you like seafood) at Hampden and Tamarac near the dollar theaters and Whole Foods.

7800 E Hampden Ave
Denver, CO 80231

My wife and I really enjoyed Assignments Restaurant. It's a culinary student run restaurant (Art Institute of Colorado). It's quiet, romantic, perfect for special occasions, and reasonably priced for a high-end meal. Only problem might be their scheduling, where they're at during the semester, etc. I imagine if they're open, it would be a great time (end of school year).

Not tech center-ish but  Yanni's Greek Taverna and Bruno's Italian Bistro are great places,  both in the strip malls by King Soopers at Monaco and Evans.
Yanni's roasts lamb on a spit on the sidewalk outside.

If you can manage to go about 10 minutes north of tech center to Colfax, it'll be well worth it to try Domo. I'm actually eating there tonight... but i eat there a couple times a week.

It's warm enough to eat in the garden too, I highly recommend that if the temp and wind conditions are favorable.

steps:
1) sit in a booth, not a table
2) sit next to your wife instead of across from her.
3) you sit next to the wall so you have to look into the resturant when looking at her.
4) then you are free to look around when she looks at her food or into the resturant.

All good advice, but Megan knows me better than that.  We've eaten at the Diamond too many times for her to know I won't be able to keep from looking.

I guess I am fotunate... my wife knows that I like the "food" at Earls. Just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu right?
