I wont be able to drive down with everyone, looks like I may be a late arrival to the show. Something has come up and I have to actually head out of town Saturday evening and I will be coming back Sunday morning.

I will be around most of the day tomorrow. I certainly hope to be able to make it to the show and surprise everyone with my filthy car. :)

It was a rather small attendance by RMCB5.

Today's event got cut short suddenly and unexpectantly by a nasty hail and thunder storm, luckily the hail wasn't that large to cause damage and mass chaos, but it did last for quite some time and it did get pretty chilly.

It was great to see VWoA there.  The EOS is a neat little car, much shorter than I expected, but I love the unique sunroof built into the folding hardtop.  The interior is pretty much standard issue Golf/Jetta, not very inspiring, but well made.

After a long drive home (traffic was bad) I'm back in the office on a deadline -- I just want to sleep!  :(

Alan,

It was nice to see you, Cole and Randy.  I didn't help the RMCB5 attendance due to the fact that I drove my A/C beetle.  I must have left just in time right before the hail.  Once it started to rain, I hit the road.  That damn hail is my greatest fear.

Hope to see you guys soon.  BTW, did they ever get to the awards?

Scott

I don't think they every announced the awards, as everyone was ducking for cover and the hail was pretty loud.  It was pretty funny seeing the two tents packed to the very edges with people.

I returned to the tent when the hail cleared up (and most people left).  I asked who won my class and they told me it was me and handed me my plaque -- pretty anti-climatic.  They didn't hand out most of the awards, looking at the boxes of awards, but I think they did announce the big throphies (best in show, etc.).

Nice work Alan, well deserved!

I guess if I would have shown I would have won the B6 Passat Class :) I think that's the only way i win at the shows is by having the only car in a class. At elast that's how it worked with my Audi. :P

I'm glad those that could make it had a ncie time, sounds like hte weather was a bit crazy. The entire list of winners has been posted on vwvortex:

Yep.  Huge congrats Alan.  nice job.

I lost the "other Audi" class to Jims awesome engine work on his 90.  and to an audi coupe which was looking awesome.  I guess that will teach me to show up and show the car with a broken winshield and a nasty set of curb rash on ALL of my rims.

hehe.  oh well, at least my car is clean now.

Congrats Alan, glad to see someone from denver with a great looking car got an award

awards were announced at South Side Johnny's (a bar in the Springs that 719 frequents) around 6ish.  a lot of people were there to actually collect their awards even though the damn bikers were being punks

I think this is Scott's (scottvw) bug.  I think it looks great.  Makes me want to go out and do a retro build up.

thanks!

The Passat and A4/S4 entries were pretty sparse this year.
I was judging the B5 A4 and B5 S4 classes -- there was one awesome S4 where the guy installed and configured a 7" touchscreen car PC into the dash that has 100 gigs of MP3's, Navigation system, and VAG com all in one.  He won the Big Dog award which was no surprise.

That is my bug.  Thanks for the compliment.  I just recently got it jetted correctly and adjusted to the altitude.  I got quite a few nice compliments on it.  No trophy but, oh well.

My car wasn't pretty enough to garner any praise...although it was the fastest VW on the weekend ;)
