How long to wait for chipping?
« on: May 19, 2006, 12:28:55 AM »
It's been so long since I chipped the B5 or read anything on chipping I don't know when it's ok to chip.

The B5 had 30k miles on it before I chipped it. I seem to recall people advising to get 1,000 miles in before chipping.

Thoughts? advice.

it doesn't matter, do it whenever.  You can break a car in that has a chip, next time I buy a turbo'd car (of something like my GTI was) I will probably stop on the way from the dealership to chip it.

Teh breakin on the 2.0T is about 1K miles. However it is like 700 miles of strick break in then ease it in after that. Waiting 2500 or so miles as mentione above is probably best. The way I like to look at it. Drive the car until it doesn;t feel fast anymore, then chip it. :)

If you buy from Autobarn, they will chip it in house and warranty it!! I think they are in Illinois...
