Pavement is for Driving ~ 1st Annual Poker Run.
« on: May 18, 2006, 09:15:06 PM »
That is right; pavement should be for driving our cars on. So MetroDubs.com and others, have decided to organize a poker run this Sunday, May 21st @ 2pm. Oh and Audiís are welcome.

Starting at the old Mervynís parking lot at the corner of Wadsworth and Bowles, this relaxing and pleasurable run will be driving thru Deer Creek Canyon and headed thru Pleasant Valley, into Conifer and Evergreen. Finally passing Morrison and finishing at the Fox and Hound by South West Plaza Mall.

Along the way there will be stops. Once everyone that is participating arrives, one playing card will be drawn. At the end of the run, the player with the best hand is the winner. Winner of what you ask? Well along the way, at each stop, the player with the highest card will receive a gift. Gifts from Detailers Paradise, like bottles of car wash, window cleaner and spray detailer. MetroDubs.com is donating a free 2-day rental of our fender roller. Other local businesses offering gifts include Autobahn Premier Services. Others are still pending.

Please remember this a fun drive. All local traffic signs and laws must be obeyed. Any participant that is caught speeding by local authorities will be disqualified. All participants understand that this is voluntary and you are solely reasonable for the safety of yourself and any passengers.

Ask any MetroDubs.com member for your directions and flyerÖ

some of the gifts..

we just got sponsorship from Fox and Hound, with more gifts from them. Free pool, free appetizers..

For anyone that doesn't know that route, it is pretty short.  I don't know how long with all the stops and giving away prizes, but just doing a cruise and stopping to wait for everyone periodically it would only take about 1.5-2hr depending on traffic and how quick the group moves.

Yeah you're more than welcome, MetroDubs is not trying to limit anyone on this since it will be right after VWOTG this Sunday roughly 2pm-ish.  So show up and enjoy the drive and play a hand of poker while you're at it.  Who knows, you might win the hand!

WIsh I could have made it... but the Miata wasn't operational until about 3pm... †I stole the wrong parts off of the donor car... so I had to go back up to evergreen to get the correct parts (they are different on each side †

Anyway, MIata is all fixed, missing parts are replaced, caliper/piston has been fixed and I'm running on a new set of pads... † I also replaced the bearings where the rear axels meet the diff... that was not a good leak.

sorry I couldn't make it yesterday.

I had no idea VWOTG was saturday, oh well, no big loss and it was dreadfully hot anyways. I'm wondering if they were forcing people to remain on the lot for an entire day -- that would really suck.

Wish I could have gone, but that back was still bothering me too much to drive. I needed another day of rest on it anyway.

In the end I probably should have gone, by the afternoon I was just putzin around the house. I was just a little worried it would take too long and I had things to do in the evening.

I was supposed to have all this free time this Spring and Summer, where the hell is it?

BTW, some sweet shots of your Sub.
