So I has changing to oil on my Former Wifes 2003 B5.5 on Sunday and I noticed something that made me really mad!

Her vacuum hoses ARE silicone..WTF  I have the same car, same year, same model and mine are not silicone...  What a rip-off.  I am going to try to find out when in the production run VW made the switch and see how i got hosed (no pun intended).

If nothing else, I know what my next mod will be...

That's really suprising.  I don't recall anyone mentioning that VW was using silicone hoses.  That would be really costly both in terms of upfront costs and the lack of replacement parts needed ;).

LOL, there ya go.  Don't get me wrong, it would be sweet if they would suck it up and use silicone hoses.  Heck maybe they have, but this would be the first I heard of it!!!  Lets hope it's not the last.

Randy, let me get this straight: between you and your ex, you have 3 Passats?

Maybe she had them replaced by amechanic somewhere or something.  I'm pretty sure they did not change these from VW.

Dub - You are correct.  We have three (3) Passats:

My 2003 Silerstone Grey B5.5 - Mods in progress
Her 2003 Black B5.5 - One mod - Billet Ant.
OLD 2000 Silver B5 - Stock

I have worked on all three and I am telling you man, there are silicone hoses on her 2003.  Frankly it pisses me off, I do all the work and she gets the good hoses

I will try to get a picture of them for you all to see.  I am also trying to find celebrative proof somewhere.

So who wants to help me swap out my hoses sometime??

Randy, we can definitely take care of that at the next garage day.  We usually have one about once a month.  In the meantime, I would go ahead and get the new hoses.  I recommend www.hosetechniques.com

You need about 10' of the 3.5mm...

I was thinking about a club car a while back because I saw Fjord blue B5 at the junkyard and it didn't have a lot of damage. I wanted to buy it, cause it was probably dirt cheap.  :P But, I was there about 3 weeks ago and it had already been sent to the crusher. 8O Oh well...

How fun would that be!?

We could test out mods on it, strip the interior, etc...Make it a drag/track car...

We would just need a trailer and truck and extra money...ugh!

I would be happy to "donate" the 2000 I have, but we would have to round up the cash to payoff the loan to VW credit.

Nothing has been done to is, so the potential is there.  I would love to strip it down and take it to the track

I have $500.00 to help the cause....

Hey Randy, are we talking hundreds of dollars or thousands?  We could always try and seek a sponsor...

Thousands, unfortunaty.

The lease is up in March and the buyout is about 13K

However a sponsor would be a great .  I would be happy to plaster the Kraut-Sled with stickers if we got a club car out of the deal.  Hell I used to do it to my self when I was skiing for a living 8)

I would be happy to help look for them.

Brad - are you listening - OSBORN VW :!:
