RMCB5 drive July 9th? it's a Sunday.
« on: June 12, 2006, 10:10:23 PM »
Last year we did the RMCB5 drive on July 9th... why not just do it on the 9th again this year?

Can you make it?  LMK.

Its a sunday so if we get started in the morning we probably won't have too much traffic.  On the way home we might have to be careful because of people coming home from the weekends and the cops out to get them too (get them, not us.... so hopefully we won't be collateral damage)

Same path as before, but just a different date.  Meet at The Fort at 8am, leave around 8:30 (at absolute latest 9am).

In case you don't know how to get there, take highway 285 (Hamden) west from C-470.  Take your first exit and go North (right) and you will see a fort on the right hand side immediately.  There is a dirt pull off there on that side.  Meet there.  here is a map:

or click me for directions (fort's website)

Here are the directions, maps to print keep with you (if you don't know where to go):

From the fort, get onto highway 285 south (hamden) and go 65-70 miles to a gas station in fairplay at the highway 9 junction.  There is a visitor center on the right hand side of the road, well pull off there (unless you need gas - which is on the east side of the road).  estimated 1hr to 1hr 15min depending on how we drive.
MAP:

After a break to stretch, get gas if needed, etc we'll turn right onto highway 9 and take that into breckenridge.  I can't remember the restruants name right now, but it is a great bar/grill.  I'll get the name and call ahead to make sure they are ready for us.  It is right next to Bubba Gump restraunt on main street.  There is parking behind it and we'll just park there and walk to the restruant.  It is about 25miles and should take us about 30ish minutes.  This road has some great sections.
MAP:

From here we'll talk over lunch and see how much longer we want to continue on.

... So let me know if the date works for you and if you plan on coming

Helmets are not required

Well, I was just informed that my wheels won't be in until early July  We'll have to see if that means the first week, or the first half.  So, I'm back to being up in the air on this drive too :?  :(

Sounds like fun. The A4 needs a good drive like that I think. Will definitely try to make it!

3 people (one is me) will be there, 2 maybes... come on....

Who's going to come?  Last year it was my birthday and it was a great way to spend the day....  I hope we can have a descent showing this year.  3 people makes me sad... esp when one of the three is me

I would like to be there.  I could certainly use a drive, but my list of stuff to do around the house has gotten pretty substantial.

Since it's on Sunday I'm out.  If we could do one on a Saturday I'd be down for it.

I could do Saturday morning as I have plans late afternoon, early evening.  I would like to see a turn out at least as good as last year, other wise I think a drive that long would not be as fun.

I've been on the fence, but it looks like I will have to pass on this drive. We are going to be putting the Volvo up for sale and it needs to be cleaned and detailed and prepped for sale.

BTW, anyone looking for a N/A 2003 Volvo S60? :)

Dood I can't find anyone who wants a 2004 24vVR6 Jetta. I wish it was an S60R, but then if it was, you probably wouldn't be selling it.

Jack, I'm out. WAAAAY too busy this weekend with work and all.
