I alsways talk about how evil AOL is and how NO ONE should use it. Some guy recorded his attempt to cancel his AOL account.

This clip will make you think twice about EVER doing business with them:

As a side note to this clip, about a year or a year and a half ago I signed up on a free trial because I needed to so some code testing with AOL. I called to cancel and my experience was eerily similar to his. I about exploded through the phone to strangle the person. If you try and bully them they baiscally tell you they wont cancel your account.

After having tried to cancel my AOL connection a little over a month ago I am ashamed to have used them for so long.  Tried to cancel one time and since I had just missed the billing cut off date I decided to hold on to it for the next month and catch those last few email stragglers.  Of course this was after discussing with the moron that I was not interested in signing up for their high speed access or other features they offer, by the time this convo ended I was so irate if I had stayed on the line a little longer I would be swearing up down.

The next month, 2 days before the billing cut off date, I called back to canel and got the same shizz from a different guy that time.  When he went into his little sales pitch I told him I was not interested and if I saw any more charges from AOL I would go and talk to "my lawyer."

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my entire life, period.  If I wanted to keep using your software I wouldn't be calling and asking to cancel

I had Compuserve (which is owned by AOL) years ago and it was hell.
They kept billing me for 6 months after I cancelled and dealing with a customer service rep in India was incredibly frustrating -- her thick accent along with the very poor sound reception was enough to make me go postal.

I got nowhere from them and I eventually had to get my credit card company to take care of it.
There was a recent class action lawsuit against AOL and it's affiliates about billing problems.  I submitted my affitdavid, so I should get my miniscule award settlement soon.

That was terrible.

I never used them and I was glad I didn't.  Anyone spewing out that much unwanted advertizing must be doing something wrong.  If you are so great, why do you need to advertize so much, you know?

Just tell them to please unpimp your internet service...
