Awake at 3am?...why not work on the car?
« on: June 28, 2006, 08:57:06 AM »
So, nearly the last modification to my car...all OEM additions outside of the head unit and xenons, but a modification none the less.  I decided to tackle my rear wing since I was awake.  I got a riv nut tool, which was needed for 2 of the 4 fastners that hold the wing on.  I then placed the template, tapped the holes, and drilled away into the ALUMINUM rear hatch 8O   Went off without a hitch, easy install.  I not only secured it with the fastners and the M6 by 1.0 bolts and riv nuts, but also used the same 3M double sided thin foam tape to seal the edges and secure it even more.  I used the same stuff to attach the MINI rear wing, and that is all they use to secure it into place.  It is as solid as a rock, and the riv nut wrench was pretty fun and easy to use.

I should be receiving my color matched mirror skins either today or tomorrow, once those are on, and the WRX trim for the gauges is in place, that is it for now.

Midnight wrenching is one of the best ways to pass time.  We pulled an S4 motor @ 1AM here a while back. 8O

I have done enough midnight stuff....but NOTHING like pulling a motor at 1am.  That is just crazy.

I have been up that late working on suspensions that were buggers though, that is when you make mistakes, when you are tired, dirty, hot, and hungry...things usually don't go well for me in those situations.
