AUDI / VW - Mt. Evans - Sunday, July 30, 2006
« on: July 07, 2006, 01:33:30 PM »
ok this is knd of a copy but i figured i'll make a topic of my own. i'm planning on everyone meeting between 9:45 and 10:15 at the Bergen Park ( Evergreen ) Radio Shack/ Nick N Willy's Pizza parking lot and then we'll cruise over from there up the mountain at the top we'll hang out for a while take some pictures and chatthen we'll go down into Idaho Springs to Beau Jo's Pizza where we'll all eat lunch or go our seperate ways from there. If that sounds like a plan then i hope to see you there. Here's the address for the location we're gonna meet at so you guys can mapquest it:

Nick N Willy's Pizza
1153 Bergen Pkwy
Evergreen, CO 80439 - 9501

If you need anymore information then feel free to email me at imasnwbrdrgrl@yahoo.com   If you're gonna go then let me know that way i know how many people to expect.

Thanks, the BMW is a bike :) I have racked up a lot of miles on the Passat, so I may ride the BMW instead.

I am retarded, all this time I have been thinking this is on Saturday (even though it clearly says Sunday the 30th). I should still be able to do it, but I need to make sure. Renee is gone all day Saturday so I was like, this is perfect.

I may just ride to the Entrance with y'all then head back to cut down on the time.

Also, for those not aware, it is $10 per car to head up the mountain ($3 for MC's). If folks are upset about the cost, maybe leave some cars at the bottom and pile into others to head up and split the cost. I think $10 covers up to 12 people in a car. :) Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and it will be a free day.

I have a pair I can lend to the cause.  Someone will need to come by prior though as I won't be going on the drive.

attn Denver Drivers!!!

we Denverites should meet prior to the GTG in Evergreen and drive up together. my proposition is the following (since people from all directions but West will find this a fairly central meeting place);

meet at the I-70 and Morrison Park-and-Ride at 9am sunday morning, depart promptly at 915 to head over to evergreen.  this will give us a few min to chat, then head out and get there in plenty of time to meet and talk to the other drivers.

thoughts?

There is the alternative option, for both Denverites and of course southerners to meet up at the  Conoco in Morrison (Morrison & C-470) and head up the twisties through everygreen and to Bergen park.

Not sure what time to meet there, I know it wont be as high speed as I-70 and the Evergreen exit, but it will be fun.

On a side note, I may have a problem with the BMW which i MUST resolve before I can head out on this drive/ride.

I might actually be able to make it to this. I'm leaving for Montrose Sunday so might as well head out after lunch from Idaho Springs.

I had a good time for the short time I was there. How did it wrap up? Was the drive tot he top okay? How was lunch?

It was neat hearing the turbo (and blow off) Audi 90 (audifreakjim on AW) in front of me. I could hear it over my engine, my helmet on and the wind.

The long line of cars got a lot of looks. My only complaints were the people that kept running off the road and kicking up crap and hte silver jetta that peeled out in the turn out to get in line RIGHT in front of me with all his clouded dusty fury. Fortunately I kinda expected it so I was prepared.

The drive up to the top was nice, though with all the weekend traffic and bicylists on the road it wasn't a very spirited drive.  When we got to the top of Mount Evans, people didn't seem to want to stick around for very long. Everyone wanted to head to Beaux Jo's for pizza.  We were running a little late (probably due to the slow start), but the hike to the top took less than 5 minutes and the views are awesome.

The weather was very nice up there (about 65 degress with a nice crisp breeze), so Andrew, Wendy and I hiked up to the top and hung around for a little while and then went to Tommy Knockers for a late lunch afterwards.
