Solar Panel Battery charger question
« on: July 11, 2006, 02:32:03 AM »
I want to buy a solar panel battery charger, because I'll be gone for 5 weeks. I see on ebay a new kind of solar panel battery charger that plugs into the OBD port and I wonder if that would work on either of my cars (00 Passat, 01 Golf). I was planing on buying the old kind that plugs into the lighter, but wanted to know if this new kind would work as well.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Jay ... I may take you up on that offer. However I was just wondering in general if there's a power line in the OBD port that can keep the battery live on older VW's or is that something just for new cars. I recall something about a power line fault in the OBD port from an aftermarket radio wiring, so I guess there is a power line of some sort there.
