06Indigo?....new 2006 Indigo car in 03Indigo's garage
« on: July 13, 2006, 12:45:58 PM »

...a 2006 325xi........ well, it is actually just a loaner. Seems to be loaded, but then again, I don't know bimmers that well.  Took the MINI in today for them to fix the rear bumper since the paint is flaking off, and they also need to replace the fuel gauge sensor, it shorted.  All covered under warranty, but they needed my car through the beginning of next week.  I did not want another convertable MINI, and Schomp did not have any hard top MINI loaners...so they said I could take this one...337 miles on it when I left the dealer, and I get it all weekend, at no cost....wooo hoooooo.

I kinda like it, fun to drive, pretty decent power in sport mode, but the brakes are a bit touchy and I hate the turn signal thing, it reverts to center even when the blinker is on.

Anyway, not bad for a loaner car....with my allroad, I got Chevy Malibu or Toyota Camry....and with my $20K MINI, I get a $34K+ loaner....go figure.

I was about to say "WTF!?"- then I saw "loaner" in your post and was relieved for whatever reason.

I think I am.  I really want a 330xi wagon...but that is seriously out of the budget for the next few years.  I have always like BWM...used to own a 320is back in the 90's.  I also want a 2002tii...those things are sweet!!!

and here I just want an M5, or the new M coupe based on the Z4.     both are out of budget for a while.

car slut!

that's a great loaner.
One time I got a loaner from Elk Mountain VW in Glenwood Springs, it was a 1990 Jetta beater from their used lot.  The seats were heavily stained and ripped and the interior reeked of stale smoke.  The windshield had some annoying sale graphics.  It was pretty embarassing, but it was better than nothing.

bummer they start soooo late.  I usually try to go back to bed around 11 and get up at 4 so I can work all night.  One day I will make enough money as a base pay so I can get off of weekends...one day. :?

I'm jealous.  Yeah, it may be a little underpowered, but it still handles great I'm sure.  I miss having a bimmer.

LOL.....and if it came with turbos...I would send it your way to put new ones in for me.  :roflmao:  :poke:

Betsy really likes this car....so, I think I have convinced her to let the next car be a 325xi wagon...since I just realized they don't make a 330xi wagon.  That will be a while though....we have a travel plan for the next few years....places to go, things to see....and trees in the back yard to plant.

Well I'm alive and kicking, that's for sure! ...it's been awhile huh? I've had some craziness going on...life issues and all, but I think things are calming down for now -I hope.

The AP is AMAZING though I go through tanks of gas (and $$) at a blistering rate! (I'm getting between 18.5 mpg and 19.5 mpg) I am on the gas a LOT though, so I can't complain too much! As for the wheels...I love em! Though they are still hard as hell to clean

I see you are BACK to being a Subie owner eh?? Very nice!! So uhh when are you planning on doing the STI swap?

done with mods to the scoobie....got xenons, kickin stereo, tint, and other subtle  outside stuff.  Not gonna do suspenson or wheels on this one...I want to keep it off the ground for snow and road trips and easy service roads.

It is slow, especially with the automatic, but no slower than the honda, so I am ok with it.

Glad to see you are still alive and kickin....and enjoying the upgrades!!!  That is why I got rid of the Outback XT....my milage was near 17 with the larger tires, etc....and with premium gas, filling up every 3-4 days, I wanted to cry...just not worth it since I have the MINI to play with.

Crystal had a loaner 325xi wagon.  I was seriously impressed with how the car drove and handled... plus for how little hp it has, it definately gets up and goes.  Although, I would spend the little extra for the 330

but they don't make a 330xi wagon, at least they don't show one on the web site.

really?  that is too bad.  Honestly I wasn't looking at the xi's, I was looking for the RWD and non-wagon.   Even still, the 325 gets better gas mileage and is surprisingly quick.

in sport mode, the 325xi is pretty darn quick...even with the AC on full blast.  I bet it is at lest as quick as a stock B5 1.8T with tiptronic.  I have gone about 80 miles in it so far, and averaging 27mpg...but that is with me jumping on it from time to time.

I think I could totally live with the 3.0L in the 325xi Wagon with automatic.  Don't think I would do the iDrive thing they have....after the navi in the Honda, I think all that crap is a waste.  Fun at first, but for where I go, I don't need it.  If I were driving for business a lot, that would be a different story all together.

the 330 and 325 are night and day in terms of performance.  after a 330, the 325 feels like a dog.  I just couldn't go there.

as for the xi thing - if you aren't using the car for skiing, just get a good set of snow tires. The regular 330i with RWD tends to be more fun for the rest of the year and does OK in the snow with good tires.  Denver doesn't get THAT much snow anyway.

We have been shopping for 325XiT's (wagons) they are definitley a lot of fun to drive.

Although, I think we may end up getting a Mercedes instead because it has more cargo room.

Jon you could just go with a 530xi wagon...I saw a new black one the other day. Verrry sharp car! But now we are talking about a serious bump in price of course. But what else is new, I guess?

You can't beat a bimmer engine for smoothness and rev-ability. It's just too much fun to hear those things bounce off the rev limiter all day IMHO

You may just have to come back to the good ol' LGT Wagon, go to stage 2 and be done with it!  8)

The Impreza will definitely treat you well. I loved my Outback and it ran without fail for 150k until the head gasket went. I hear you on the lack of HP though...we can always "fix" that though should you get the urge. hehe
